What do you think of the DIY Cat 5 speaker cables I braided up a pair of biwire Cat5's...BIG improvement over what I had, though admittedly I was starting from a pretty basic cable. When I first tried them out I sat back with a "whoa, what's this". Until then I didn't put much stock in the cable ...
DIY speaker cable made from cat 5 type cable Bob,What you're describing doesn't follow the typical recipes for Cat5 braids...leaving the PVC insulation on (containing 4 twisted pairs) & just braiding them would be a Cat5 faux pas.Braiding them is a little work (not that bad really), but ...
Recommendation for interconnect and speaker cables I just spun up a half-dozen Chris VenHaus silver IC's (VHAudio.com). VERY NICE....and for the money it takes, even nicer. They are easy to assemble & look great as well..
Which Patricia Barber album floats yer boat? One person's favorite CD is another's frisbee. That and 25 cents won't get you a cup of coffee. I'm sure the clout that audiophiles command doesn't amount to a fly spec on the wall of the music industry...so much for "the medium". Can anyone actua...
What tubes are you using in your Jolida JD 100? I'll second Jhorowitz128's post. I tried the same path he did & ended up in the same place, raytheon 5751's. You might do a search...someone a while back mentioned a pair of cryo'd tubes that were "the best ever" and the cost was reasonable. I...
Best audio shops in the Chicago area? I recently auditioned some equipment/speakers at Ultra Fidelis in Milwaukee. Dave Mitchell of UF spent a good chunk of time helping me sort through number of options, didn't rush me or press for a sale. Very nice guy. The shop is an old home, not ...
2-channel listening with a sub-woofer I recently auditioned a pair of Vandersteen 2CE sigs without and later with one vandy 2wq sub....BIG difference...BIG difference, and for the better. It added a sort of relaxed, ease & fullness to the sound. I liked it, alot.Maybe using a sub ...
I love my Vandersteen's but . . . . . . . . Maybe an off-the-wall suggestion, but if you're looking for a "bigger" sound have you considered the vandy 2wq sub? It can make a world of difference to the overall sound of your system and may free up your mids & highs.
Speaker Recommendation Needed Steveott,The Vandys are 7-ohm, 86dB, 40-160 watts, the Snells are 8 ohm, 90dB, 50-250 watts. I'd think at least 100-120 good watts, naturally more never hurts. The Vandys get lots of press here, but I think the Snell CV's are not as well known. Two...
Speaker Recommendation Needed Snell CV would also fit the price range & they sound wonderful. What are the other components?
Speaker Recommendation Needed Vandersteen 2CE Sigs?.
Vandersteen 3a Sigs, McCormack DNA 125, preamp? How about a TAD150?
What amp for tad-150 and totem arro+lightning sub? I picked up a TAD150 recently, but haven't found the right amp yet. I'm targeting a McCormack DNA-1, or possibly a 225. Depending on what you're looking for any McCormack might work for you (DNA-1, -2, 125, 225, 0.5..)
snell fans I think it's good to see also. I hope there gets to be a reasonable amount of posting on the site. I have a pair of E-IV & Type A's. Love the E-IV's, I'm just putting together a system for the A's and haven't had a chance to run them around th...
DNA-1 Rev. A or DNA-125 / 225?? If anyone knows of a DNA-1 Rev A at the price of a 125...I'll take it. |
