Tom Petty autopsy released
I heard on the news yesterday that you can add heart disease to the list...the radio news cast that I heard did not specify how severe.
Lowthers midrange: how do they compare?
Talk to Brian Charney of Charney Audio about Lowthers.  He uses them in many of his offerings.  Disclaimer: I own his Concertos.
Hum problem
Not to pile on because I'm not electronically very knowledgeable, but this was my experience in dealing with a phono hum: After much experimentation, I got a tip from the Tweak Shop to wrap my unshielded phono IC with aluminum foil.  Gone!  Obviou...
Has anyone ever heard these speakers by Volti Audio?
I have heard the Vittoras at audio shows several times, with and without subwoofers, and always came away favorably impressed.  The woodwork to my eyes seems excellent, as noted above.  I'm a horn person.  I seriously considered the Vittoras mysel...
Best high-efficiency speaker for Unison S6 EL34-based integrated
Check out Charney Audio.  I own his Concertos.  He has smaller models.  I have no affiliation other than being a satisfied customer and a personal friend.
Audio Desk Pro Cleaner
Hello Deadlift - I did the same as you.  The Pro version is definitely improved in function from the original.  I just checked the drain plug fitting...mine does have a rubber washer installed from the factory.  My Pro has not leaked.  I purchased...
Can't tell,if my house is properly grounded
Also try wrapping your interconnect with aluminum foil.  It worked for my phono noise problem.  You can search and find my prior posts on this solution.
Is there a market for the Dennis Had/ Cray Audio Tuned Pipe design Speakers
I don 't mean to be flippant, but my sense is that there is always a market for used audio equipment at the "right" price.  That "right price" may be pennies on a dollar.  Whether you are willing to sell it at that price or not is your decision.  ...
Is it a OK to leave tube pre-amps powede up 24/7
My friend, an audio manufacturer, keeps his tubed DAC and tubed pre-amp on 24/7 during non-summer months, unless he knows he will be away from his house for a stretch.  He is a proponent of 24/7, and says the power surge upon turn-on is harder on ...
Phono interconnects acting as antenna, adding noise to system
If you read some of my prior posts on hum you will learn I had what seems to be a similar problem on my phono source.  I wrapped my tonearm cables in aluminum foil and that took care of the problem.  I think they were picking up hum from my Audio ...
What to do with audio Magazines
I used to save all my TAS magazines many years ago.  Maybe the very earliest ones are worth keeping for nostalgia or collector purposes.  I freed myself psychologically by discarding them.  I am not the "collector" type - if something has value I ...
Steinmusic SP 1.1s for my Wavac MD 300
Hello Normie57 - Check out Brian Charney Audio in Somerset NJ for high-efficiency, wide band width, single driver speakers.  He makes an honest product, well conceived and executed, at fair prices, IMHO.  I don't have experience with Stein Music o...
Single driver loudspeakers
Check out Charney Audio, Somerset, NJ.  I own his Concerto horn speaker.  You can see my commentary on his web site.
Wavac LCR-X2...is it worth $10k ?
I used to own the Wavac LCR-X2, which I had bought as a demo at 50% off some 4 or 5 years ago.  I liked it a lot but replaced it with a Concert Fidelity phono as it matches the rest of my CF electronics.  I thought the CF was "faster" and more dyn...
Second audio system in your house?
3 systems.  A Fi Audio of NY-based one in the family room; a Kondo-based one, and a Concert Fidelity-based one.  They give me pleasure, and I have an understanding (read: great) wife of almost 28 years.  I keep the Fi Audio and Kondo equipment for...
