Lumin X1 or dCS Bartok
I can definitely say Lumin makes some fantastic streamers.  I have the T2 and it holds it’s own against much higher priced DACs.  I imagine the X1 would take this to another level.
Lumin X1 or dCS Bartok
Dznutz, your argument can go both ways.  Sure if you have the top of the line you know you are getting the company’s best.  But if you get a lower model of a much higher line you will most likely be getting trickle down technology from 2-4x price ...
Separates or Integrated? What makes more sense?
At $10K I would go integrated.  There are some integrateds that are as good if not better than their separates counterparts (like Luxman 509x vs c700 combo).  Huge bang for the buck.  I spent quite a while trying to find a good amp/pre combo and t...
Audioquest vs. Others
@dustsailor, the plugs are pure copper coated with silver.  From my experience it does not color the sound either direction.  Neither the Earth or Oak have any hint of brightness.  I would be surprised if you would hear brightness even with their ...
Best Integrated for Martin Logan ESL 13A
@georgehifi As I said, it really is a personal preference.  From my experience the overall sound signature is as you describe it but when pushed the treble can get a tad harsh.  This is playing recordings that I know well so that's not this issue....
Best Integrated for Martin Logan ESL 13A
I did an extensive A/B listening session with Diablo 300 and Luxman 509X paired with ML 11As (using same source components and cables).  The Gryphon sure has raw power, but found it to bright on some few songs, borderline fatiguing. Some songs sou...
Best Integrated for Martin Logan ESL 13A
I have the 11As and would recommend against McIntosh.  I had them paired with the MC452 and it was just too warm for the speakers.  Some instruments, especially strings and piano, just didn’t sound realistic to me.  I spent a lot of time and money...
Luxman 509 or McIntosh 8900
McIntosh generally sounds lush and powerful, though clarity in the highs really depends on speaker combination.I had the Mc452 and now have the 509X and they feel they are completely opposites.  Paired with my Martin Logan 11As (which have a sligh...
Power/Integrated amp for Martin Logan 11A
I have the same speakers and the 509X and like the combination.  It all depends on the sound you are looking for and the budget.  I would categorize the sound as very neutral with crisp, yet smooth highs. This combo should not sound harsh.  This p...
Audioquest vs. Others
AQ makes great interconnects, only complaint I have is how high the cost is going for their higher cables (unless getting used). The higher up you go the more transparent the cable gets.  As ricred1 mentioned this is all system dependent.  Transpar...
Which stereo amp to try under $30k
@mayoradamwest Just reach out to the US Vitus distributor, he may be able to figure out a way for you to demo it at home.  PM me if you want his contact info, I was just in touch with him to figure out how to do an in home demo myself.@varyat is r...
Anthem vs. Marantz for Focal speakers
I have a Marantz 8805 driving the HT side of our system and couldn't be happier.  I have always wanted to try out Anthem as well, both are good choices, so it's all about sound signature and features.  I haven't heard the Focals, if they tend to b...
Time to buy a class D amp?
Yes for sure, that's what I was trying to say.  At the end it's all about what is sounds good to you in your own system.  Pretty much it!A few days really doesn't do it justice either, to your point, an extended trial is important.
Time to buy a class D amp?
Last I checked this is about listening to music not about technical specifications.  All components will sound different paired with other components.  As with anything high end it is best to demo it, preferably at home and see how you like it.Man...
Which stereo amp to try under $30k
That's appalling for local dealer.  Especially since you can reach out to dealers out of state, to potentially a better deal and save the 10%+ CA taxes (if the brand isn't geographically controlled).  Only reason to buy locally is trust and custom...
