thank you guys - Appreciate the kind words about Poland and the people....  my main concern was due to the fact that in Poland...as it is for the rest of EU in fact, things are taxed like crazy...and often there are some additional taxes on items ...

helpful feedback... appreciate it.for me, I really always listen for CLEAR sound improvement - not based on price....but the final question I always ask myself: Can I tell a CLEAR difference AND is that different sound PREFERRED by me.In my limite...

How to "mount" acoustic foam ?
ok...you still haven't contributed to my post....YOU just made a bunch of assumptions, including telling me I am assuming things1. I am NOT covering my entire walls with anything...I am actually trying to do proper room treatment which includes Tu...
Preamp issue?

Preamp issue?
Thanks for the feedback... will swipe the tubes next.I have replaced tubes in my amps in the past so this isn't anything that I am afraid of doing...I just didn't think that this "symptom" is characteristic of dying tubes.Kind of weird for the pre...
Qs about Bias
thank you guys for correcting me and helping me here.... In fact once I left the connections on and just muted the pre-amp, I was able to bias the amp with much better results....all the tubes came tight at or very close to 65mVDC and the measurem...
All my FLAC files are 44.1/16
I have a CDP that does upsampling but that works only with CDs...as I don't have another transport. The files would be stored on the Sony HAP server. No separate DAC for me
Qs about Bias
I know about the warm up.... this part was clear to me....however, when the manual says the amp should be under no load  - I thought they meant nothing connected. The tubes are new and matched from TubeDepot and burned for 24hrs
Qs about Bias
thanks for the answer - so I should keep speakers connected but disconnect the interconnects for preamp when adjusting the bias ?The ARC manual says to perform the bias adjustment with no load....so I assume they mean no speakers and no source.
Pre-amp upgrade time?
Jafant - I am using XLO Reference balanced all around.I am leaning toward getting an ARC Ref 3.... of course one can't go wrong with ARC Ref line of audio gear.I just got new tubes KT120 for my ARC Ref 110 and that was a nice improvement over the ...
Output tubes for ARC Ref 110
OK....so just finished replacing the tubes and re-adjusting the bias. The instructions say to adjust bias at the V5 tube to 65mVDC and then measure V7 to make sure it falls between 55 and 75 mVDC and do the same for other pairs.....What I noticed i...
Output tubes for ARC Ref 110
One more question but regarding output tubes and bias.My amp came with 6550 and the manual says to set the bias to about 65mANow that I have KT120 - do I still adjust to the same bias of 65mA or should it be adjusted to a different value ?
Output tubes for ARC Ref 110
HI MechansDo you mean I should get 6H30EB rather than 6H30 but that EB version would probably last half as long as standard 6H30 ?
