How to isloate turntable motor from making a hum
Moving the turntable away from the preamp solved the hum issue. There is no hum regardless of the rpm - it is dead quiet now. While shuffling the gear components around, I've placed a monoblock power amp onto the preamp.  That made a preamp genera...

Yesterday I downloaded and installed the latest macOS Big Sur 11.4 on my Mac mini (Late 2014). After the install was completed the Music app (used to be iTunes) shows it is versions 1.1.5.74 now. In the the Music app’s Preferences (in Playback tab...
Should the sound level in Triode mode be lower than in Tetrode
That's interesting. By some reason I have always believed that the power amplifier's wattage directly translates to volume gain. Please correct me if I am wrong, but according to what you say, I can connect left channel output of the preamp to a 1...
Should the sound level in Triode mode be lower than in Tetrode
If I would connect a right channel output of a preamp to a 100 Watts monoblock and its right-channel to a 250 Watts one then the right speaker will be 2.5 times louder than the left one. But switching a 100 Watts vacuum tube power amp to a lower p...

I did some testing this morning by connecting and disconnecting the speakers from the amps. The speakers connected in series (two speakers per channel chained) sound different from what they sound when they are connected separately (single speaker...
How to isolate turntable from footstep shake or vibration
Thank you for all your suggestions! I’ve double checked the suspension. And it appeared that the right tonearm side needed a stiffer spring as the aluminum housing was so low that it touched the base. It was simply sitting on the turnable instead ...

Should I replace Denon DL-103R with Dynavector DRT-XV1 mounted
Yesterday I replaced my Denon DL-103R with Dynavector DRT XV1 cartridge I've acquired on a used market. Before my initial impressions are mixed or forgotten or both I would like to go ahead and share them with those who pursue the same direction. ...
Hum after replacing tonearm cable
Thank you for your considerations! Exposing the ground cable wire and connecting it to the phono stage grounding pole fixed the hum issue. It now performs as expected.
Hum after replacing tonearm cable
The cable that hums is used. It was purchased on Ebay. The issue turns to be behind the broken ground wire. There is a crack right where it meets the spate connector. I wonder if it would be OK to just detach the spade connector from the ground wi...
Hum after replacing tonearm cable
1. Disconnecting tonearm ground wire from the phono stage did not make even a bit of the difference. With or without the tonearm ground wire bolted to the Ground Post of the phono stage makes no perceivalbe difference in anything. I wonder if this...
