Are there any absolute truths??? No matter how thin you slice it, it's still baloney...
Naimites Attention please Dude:Naim is not currently sexy gear, so it's not surprising that you have not received too many replies. I owned Naim (Snaps/32.5/140) for about 10 years, and have a pretty healthy regard for the stuff. The Nait in any of it's incarnations is pro...
What's the funniest or dumbest thing you did? Grade nine electronics class; I was trying to take a mono turntable, install a stereo cartridge, and run stereo inputs to a tiny Radio shack amplifier. I wound up wiring AC power into the turntable cartridge. When the electronics teacher saw what ...
B&W, Aerial 7B -- my impressions, something off? Something is definitely wrong - sort of. Your impression of the B & W speakers is very accurate; smooth, musical, "sweet", though to my ears not imaging champions and a bit fluffy down low. However, I have never heard Aerial speakers sound lik...
Family cable shootout Trelja - I'm actually more curious to know what music you used as a basis of reference. Is it possible with the cables that were really close that it would come down to what type of music you were playing, or possibly even which track? Or were the...
Has The Maker ever seen yours? Albert, it sounds like you are host to a veritable "who's who" of audio. Most impressive! I have had several visits from Gilbert Yeung of Blue Circle - Gilbert makes a point of visiting customers to make sure things are working properly. He has al...
The death of an amplifier This is silly - pressure washers and religion and liquid and airy sound. Nonsense!!! Everybody knows that to preserve the life of a SS amp you must put a piece of fresh meat on top of it periodically. Use only beef, lamb, or pork. NO CHICKEN - not...
Free TWEAK that works Well, I got the MDF, but apparently bubble wrap cannot be purchased in Canada on a Saturday. I was able to find bubble gum and bubble bath - does anyone think that either would work?
Does anybody read reviews? Jadem6:In a backward sense, you just proved my point - your excellent efforts in writing a review will go completely to waste if audiogon does not come up with a system for proper composition/format. Your review on the Plinius was well thought out...
Does anybody read reviews? I hate to be critical in this forum - but I read three reviews and now pointedly ignore them. Each review read like a very poor ripoff of a trade magazine review, and each one stated that the piece of equipment in question was definitively the bes...
Biwiring: can you really hear the difference? Dopogue:Well, in that case then I guess I wouldn't argue either. Though I might try it anyway just to see:)
Biwiring: can you really hear the difference? Markanetz is on the money - use a set of spades and a set of bananas on a single terminal to enable the use of two runs of wire per speaker. Make sure the "better" cable is running to the high driver, not the woofer. This works better - perhaps so...
Biwiring: can you really hear the difference? Big difference - especially if you can "shotgun" bi-wire. That means running a second speaker cable to your other speaker input - in other words 4 runs of speaker cable, not two.
Which is best Simaudio W-5 or Blue Circle BC 26? I have done an A/B on these very amps - I wound up buying the Blue Circle. In my mind it was just a bit better than the W-5 in every way. BUT, both are fine amps, and you would be well advised to audition both of them; your ears may tell you a dif...
Considering the Rule of Diminishing Returns....... Energy C-9 speakers are indeed an excellent value - good call Tim! BUT, if you really dig the Aerial sound, think about a pair of Aerial Model 5 speakers (will you be using/do you already have a sub?) with a Vandersteen 2W sub. Very close to the 9... |
