Warm sounding phono cartridge
Surprising. The Umami blue is a relatively warm catridge. I agree with suggestions to have set up checked by a professional. Or may be deffective. 80 Ohms is borderline. Of course it dépends of the set up but 100 ohms is recommended. Is the gain t...
Moon 390 Network Streamer
There is one Moon 390 on us audio mart at 2800$ from a user in TX.
Moon 390 Network Streamer
@skads_187 if you go for Luna, the Mauve is the sweet spot. Organic , well-rounder sound, detailed but not analytical. Cardas Clear rev1 is amazing but not cheap.
Moon 390 Network Streamer
I own a Moon 390. It is one of the best in its class at this price point for preamp/dac/streamer phono. I use the phono stage and it is adjustable on the fly to almost any cart, MC or MM. it is about equivalent or a little betterave thanks tenir 1...
Pass....Accuphase....or......
Another vote for the Pass XA25. It is driving a pair of Harbeth 30.2. compared it to Ayre at twice the price and Luxman. To me and as reported by many, it is a very neutral and transparent sound. With a tad warmth and pure class A drive. It is be...
Linn LP12 turntable
If that can help you , I did an AB comparison between a brand new Rega P10 and a used LP12 Karousel, Kore, Akito B3, Lingo 3 PS, and Trampoline. Both mounted with a Hana SL. The winner was clearly the LP 12. Better soundstage and bass among others...
Turntable upgrade
I upgraded my turntable to a brand new  P10 last year. So I thought. It was very disappointing. My old modified Heybrook TT2 was better in many regards. I sold  the P10 in the same month to replace it with a good old Linn LP12 fully upgraded with ...
What were your favorite gear additions in 2024?
This year I upgraded the Linn LP12 I got in 2023 with the new Arko tonearm. This new Linn tonearm is  quite impressive in terms of detail, openness and bass. This gave me the opportunity to hear the limitations of my Hana SL. So just before Christ...
Solid state amp that tube fan can be happy with?
Agree with mm1tt77 by enlarge. Pass, Coda. situation at Krell seems unclear right now for service, etc. Would add Ayre to the list to consider. i have a Pass XA-25 and very happy with it. Would consider to add a tube phono but definitely not repl...
Pass XA25 for my system
I have the XA25 paired with Harbeth 30.2, 6 ohms 86 db. My room size is 20x12. It is plenty of power and I like to listen to high volume. Class A at high volume is a big plus compared to AB. The XA25 is one of the most transparent amps. It is bein...
??? What Is The MOST Expensive System You Ever Heard ??? What Was Your Opinion ???
Listened to a 1M$ system at an audio show. A Nagra system with a 250k$ TT. It was truly amazing. Happy for those who can afford it but it does not take anything away from the fun I have to build my own system to fit my taste and my room at a price...
Room setting: new amp or new speakers?
There are two schools of thinking. Speakers first or Source first. From 30 years experience with different systems there is not only one way to do it. I tried both approaches but I got best results starting with speakers. Matching it to the sound ...
Will an Amp change improve my system ?
I have the 30,2 40th anniversary (almost the same as the XD) and matched it with a Pass Labs XA25. It is a match made in heaven. Don't know about your room size but, it is plenty for mine of 20x12. If you want some info about the combo, please che...
After 20 years, in the market for a power amp
I have a Pass Labs XA25 pure class A and extremely happy with it. Very transparent with tad warm presence. Easy to match with different speakers. It is a reference amp for many audio reviewers. Likely the last component I would change. Coda may be...
Downsizing from tower to bookshelf
If you are considering the Harbeth P3ESR XD why not go a bit further to the Harbeth M30.2 XD? I have a similar size room and the M30 are fantastic. A bit more presence, great holographic and a mid-range that is second to none for any bookshelf und...
