What is most important part of a system?
It all matters that is why they call it a system . The room dictates the application of the system mostly the speakers . Smaller rooms are harder to get right with full range speakers that's why small book shelf speakers sound good in smaller room...
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive
The plinth I had built is on the massive side to accommodate a 12 " arm.  And for loss of torque on a SP10 table I don't think that's a problem . In my case the roller blocks work . As for the Albert Porter sink I think he is coupling the motor th...
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive
I have a SP10 mk2 in a 16 x 24 x 3 1/2 plinth I just placed it on a set of 3 Symposium roller block JR HSE feet this made a nice difference in SQ . The goal with all we are seeking is accurate speed control and low noise . The noise comes from 2 s...
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive
There is another trend in belt drive multiple motors like the Audio Note and Feickert tables . Do you have any feedback on theses designs ?
Choosing Sub-woofers. Please advise ASAP.
Hi Tim you know you can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink . All i can say my system for the last 3 years was a DSP controlled stereo sub set up I thought I had good bass at least in my one listening spot . Now after hooking up two ...
Kef LS50 - can it handle a subwoofer properly?
What you need to do this the right way is two subs and a MINI DSP 2x4 total control over the bass and main speakers .
More discrete R2R Mulibit dacs.
Don't forget Metrum acoustics they are making there own chips
Do you think you need a subwoofer?
Hi Tim the low level dynamics are from the use of auto former or transformer volume control that's the key component . Check out Intact audio . No loudness contour . The one thing I have is a great digital front end
Do you think you need a subwoofer?
Hi Tim the problem I have is I am limited on space to play with optimum sub placement . I use my subs in stereo the front subs are set to 60hrz and the rears are set to 45hrz . The DSPeaker makes this arrangement work well . the DSP has a bypass m...
Do you think you need a subwoofer?
Hi Tim I use the VTL 100 amps for HT and 2 channel music . as for tube life I am using 2 KT120 tubes in each amp if they wear out so be it . There is plenty more of them available . I use the DSPeaker as a room correction for 500hrz and down for t...
Fidelity Research FR-64 vs. FR-54
I can see how this tone arm thread got sidetracked . Reading in between the lines I think Raul is talking about room acoustic distortion caused by modal coupling . http://www.acousticfrontiers.com/20101026using-subwoofers-to-improve-sound-quality-...

Do you think you need a subwoofer?
Hi Tim getting back to the best bass I have heard in my system . I have been using DSP controlled stereo bass for three years with great results . After hearing a dynamic system with 4 subs I was inspired to try it myself .My system is centered on...
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better?
The key to analog like sound with digital gear is to use a Non oversampling DAC like a Audio Note , Metrum , La scala , or Shitt multi bit . The other word of caution is that USB is a problem if not implemented right . The three keys to great digi...
My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive
Dear Raulirugas I get your point . I feel that the technology for vinyl playback was at its pinnacle in the past just before the format took a down turn to the rise of CD sales . I have a very good computer based audio system and feel that's where...
