VACUUM TUBE AMPLIFIERS LX-380 ,any comment?
I do not like your idea of Bowers 805 D3, certainly not with the luxman amp.bowers specs below: only 88db 1w 1m, that's low efficiency needing more power.yes those speakers with McIntosh MC275yes those speakers with Carver Crimson 275but,   they ...
Wall mounting on studs
I forgot to say, I personally would never mount a TT to anything except vibration free concrete, brick, block ... wood studs, you are essentially mounting to the face of a drum.
VACUUM TUBE AMPLIFIERS LX-380 ,any comment?
never saw or heard it, just looked on their sitefeature set looks great, until I got to this Rated output: 20W + 20W (6Ω), 18W + 18W (8Ω), 14W + 14W (4Ω) That demands very efficient speakers, which I am in favor of, but by experience/instinct I li...
Have a Victor UA-7045 tonearm coming
war of the worlds The album was one of the first recorded on 48 tracks, using two synchronised 24 track Studer A80s at Advision Studios in London. It was engineered by Geoff Young, who brought the recordings together with only a 16 channel desk
Have a Victor UA-7045 tonearm coming
lewm1. ignore the #’s on the tt arm’s anti-skate dial, they are often way off. I prefer the notched rod/dangling weight of SME type, one of the features of the long arm I bought.2, start with the blank lp, whatever it’s made of, it get’s you CLOSE...
Klipsch RP-502S in std stereo setup?
interesting, I use these, specifically designed for a 'wide center' imagehttp://www.hifi-classic.net/review/dbx-soundfield-100-135.htmlthese Klipsch would be too wide for 2 channel music, poor imaging of all instrument locations, keep in mind, cen...
Replacement woofer.
can you post links to what you have and what you are considering buying? specs of drivers: original and intended replacement? Why replace woofers? Damaged? Rotted foam, worn out surround? You can replace the cone only if voice coil is ok, or replace...
McIntosh MC207
Speakers: want/need sub(s)?Keep in mind, if using Sub(s) for home theater, when using 2 channel mode, if Sub(s) are not on, you want to make sure all the bass gets to the front mains. It can be tricky, read the manuals, options, ask,
Wall mounting on studs
Avoid opening wall? It is possible to surface mount a separate wood panel, behind your 'shelf system'.wide enough to catch only 2 studs, and use many anchors to sheetrock or plaster for the extended end. Then you have limitless horizontal location...
Is my Stylus damaged?
I seriously doubt any damage done. Fully Manual TT: I tried some inexpensive after-market lifters, no success, then bought this excellent auto-lifterhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HKX6WL7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1lo...
To venture back into vinyl or not,...that is the question.
I also get a few new LP’s, even 180gm ’special’ that have some noise.Like my old ones with baby food, cat hair, smoke residue, I clean them, batches of 10, bingo, dead quiethttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GSSQ1MN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_t...

I go for direct drive, quartz lock. turn it on, instant accurate speed, stays there warm or cold. If not quartz lock, you typically need to wait for it to warm up, then refine speed, then check it again later, as I needed to do with my Thorens TD1...
To venture back into vinyl or not,...that is the question.
You need Phono Eq to modify the phono signal (boost lows/cut highs)and the needed signal boost of MM cartridge signal up to line level signal strength. Some TT's have an option to use it's built in phono preamp, including the AT120 I linked above.I...
