15 foot RCA cables out of TT with no pre amp?
I would listen carefully to a very familiar lp with distinct lows, mids, highs. Then make a temporary short cable hookup, listen, despite theories, I doubt you will hear a difference.let us know if you try this.
Sell LP's: No visible scuffs. Let buyer remove static if needed?
everyonethanks for sharing your experiences and advice. Now, cleaned/played here first: people get them, slap em on TT, get quiet enjoyable experience, give great feedback.IOW, too much STATIC is the ONLY thing that would reduce that instant enjo...
Sell LP's: No visible scuffs. Let buyer remove static if needed?
lewm, this is about NOT REMOVING STATIC, letting buyer deal with static. So far, I have shipped 30 that I did clean, removed static, sold as static free (except some occasionally between tracks), and I always get positive feedback, IOW it is possibl...
I Just Inherited 4,000 LPs
jafant I will miss listening with my friend, he was quite capable or really listening, I have found so many others, non-audiophiles who want to hear my system cannot even go 2 minutes without talking.

rpeluso Only 1-1/2 hours straight down 202, passing a lot of great towns.Do you know any sources of LP's on that route? Maybe avoid New Hope as more than likely too many people there. Bordentown, NJ, Record Collector makes it possible for my tw...
My really dumb tube mistake(s)
Great, thanks for posting your experience.Similar obvious improvement: I just thoroughly cleaned the years old corroded rca jacks on my vintage McIntosh preamp. So old they are the close together ones, hard to clean but well worth it. I made a lea...
Speakers for Rogue Sphinx
That is a low ceiling for that big of a room. I would go for speakers that are slanted back, i.e. time aligned (highs travel a speck faster than lows) or flat faced ones that you can improvise to slant them slightly, and toe them in, all to avoid ...
Another subwoofer connection question
It's an old design, you might someday consider a newer design. My old Velodyne, 12" servo controlled, new surround, adds nice extension to my office bookshelf speakers. Single sub for general centered extensionFor a music system, I recommend a ste...
Another subwoofer connection question
that is a self-powered sub. great, that means: go from preamp directly to sub, it handles low bass with it's own amp; then signals with no low bass go from sub to amp, then amp to mains.the advantage is neither the amp or mains try to make low bas...
A / B Switching
btw,It isn't good to have spare speakers in a listening space, they passively react to vibrations generated by the active speakers.
Remarkably better sound possible with just 1 system component change?
I would love to hear your system. anywhere near Plainfield, NJ?Your Focals are 91db sensitivity, there is no way you need that monster SS amp.My suggestion is to get a tube amp to pair with that tube preamp you have. Maybe 45 wpc enough, others wi...

jafant Yesterday, my first real look, I found more than a few Fanwood Library Albums, heavy vinyl covers with index cards, late charge warnings, ...I thought, did he just pay the fines? If you knew Rod you would know that was a real possibility...

clearthinker Truth be told, he and his wife were hoarders. His sister and daughter are going to discover some treasures IF they take their time as you say.One of my fondest memories of them was when I suggested they might clear out a better pat...
