Soldering Help
It’s always a great opportunity to learn, add an accomplishment, increase your self worth. It’ll sound much better if you do the job yourself! If tight or tricky, not one to learn first: my local electronics parts store will make repairs. or, a c...

Where on east coast? I'm in Central NJ, lug it over to my shop!
How long do you or should you keep your gear.
Have a peek at my 3 systems shown here. I love keeping Vintage both active and performing at their best. Spare parts acquired, newer stuff for convenient features primarily. Still listening to the speaker drivers made in 1958 that got me hooked in...
Audio Research or Luxman?
Based on the sound of my one and only Luxman, and what you describe, I would definitely keep/use the Luxman. I agree, a good tech can get you volume controls inside. Anywhere near NJ? I am sure Steve Leung at VAS can get some very nice volume co...

Micro Seiki DD 40 Dual Tonearm installation
OP, Apologies for yapping about my choices. I see photos of 2nd arms on the left side of that TT. IF you are going to have a custom dust cover, and if you have room for ’deeper’, you might think about mounting the 2nd arm on the rear. That gives...
Micro Seiki DD 40 Dual Tonearm installation
imhififan People, OP, you and many others I presume, must love that TT, I don’t know anything about it. I’m not going without a dust cover, and it has to look good, a custom one hanging off the edge of it just doesn’t appeal to me. I see these f...

Micro Seiki DD 40 Dual Tonearm installation
I’m a big fan of two tonearms (one a removable headshell, one VTA on the FLY, one Long). I got greedy and squished IN a 3rd. (IN, inside the dust cover). I think it is not the best idea to add a 2nd arm to THAT TT 1. it would need to be mounted ...
If you have a CD Player, you need to do this periodically...
wouldn't this be a reason to keep a cd player, just for it's supposed periodic benefit? a cheapo portable cd player would do, correct?
If you have a CD Player, you need to do this periodically...
Is there anything to read about this Irrational thingy?
Timely retipping
I also have high praise for both Steve and Ray Leung at VAS. https://vasnyinc.com/ Where in NJ are you? I’m in Plainfield. I met Bill here, then we got together a few times, listened here, went to Bordentown record collector together. http:...
What Recordings Of Yours Did Not Age Well?
I love Red Garland, have several of his LP's. I'll find my copy of Red Alert, play it, let you know what I like about it.
Better CD Sound: The Search
Mr. Fixit Lost the Parts, TWICE! 1. I had the Denon finding CD’s, but not SACD. Returned/Received Replacement Laser. Successfully de-soldered two anti-static solder lumps on the laser, grabbed my little bag of parts to reassemble, 1 of 3 springs ...
Zyx cartridges best tracking
Pretenders give the Answer   Of course we think, lightest successful tracking force = less wear to both vinyl and stylus. I still use that as a consideration when choosing. However, the middle, the OEM's recommended ideal rather than the li...
