Turntables
I also had an AT120 (pre usb days). It is a great TT to delve into LPs and see if you stick with it, then eventually upgrade if you get hooked on vinyl. As noted, upgrade the stylus right away to ML microline or SH shibata. It makes a significant...
Tubes for VTL ST-150
My used Cayin A-88T came with 6550’s.I switched from 6550’s to KT88’s, prefer the KT88’s.   Note: Bias. IF you change tubes, it is recommended to adjust the bias. My amp sounded better with KT88’s, without adjusting bias. My MK1 version of that...

I want more bass…
I’d love to hear those speakers, where do you live, I’m in Plainfield, NJ. this cd has ’my Funny Valentine’, just Mila and a bass player . You will hear how well your system delivers not only bass, but quality, refined bass, not booming bass. If...

you wrote AVR, which means audio video receiver. you also mentioned it has enough power. a quick look shows it is an am/fm receiver, not an avr, and has only 50 wpc into 8 ohm speakers. It is not rated to drive 4 ohm speakers, see the back plate:...
Does the length of the Cable matter?
cleeds thanks for the clarification. Is the construction of a balanced cable more resistant to interference than a typically shielded rca cable, that was my assumption to suggest the conversion. Over the years, I've used long and inexpensive rca...
Grounding a turntable and a tonearm
Poor ground caused HUM, not crackling or pops. No HUM, your existing ground is fine. You need to clean your LP's to prevent crackling and pops.
Does the length of the Cable matter?
IF hum is a problem, adapters exist to convert from rca to Balanced, simply to use a better noise resistant balanced cable for the run. convert TT preamp out RCA to Balanced, then at the amp convert back from balanced to RCA. female and male ver...
Does the length of the Cable matter?
Is it an RCA to RCA cable, or a DIN from tonearm to RCA? easy to find and use long RCA to RCA. A bit harder to get a long DIN to RCA Lots of people believe keeping phono cables short is important. I ordered a custom 8 ft DIN/RCA cable for my 3rd...
