A good 5 channel Amp? Help
If music is your main concern, going from B&K to Integra/parasound confuses me? They aren't bad units but they also aren't B&K.Personally, I really like Anthem and Sunfire. For a little more warmth, you can pick up a mac. Don't worry about...
Denon 3806 + B&W 803D....amp suggestions???
The denon should have enough power for the 803's. The less you strain the receiver, the better the remaining channels will function. If you have whole house audio, buy a denon multi zone receiver to handle that duty. It works better anyway.
Where to find the fuse holder for McIntosh MC225 ?
Check tubesandmore.combetter yet, check with audioclassics that will be a phone call but they are the experts.
Ultimate DIY speaker design?
Remember the post of a guy who built massive horns into the foundation of his house? I think these were almost big enough to crawl though.
Matched Tubes do I need them and why?
Yes, you can get a decent pair for $20. Just buy from a reputable dealer: Upscaleaudio.com, echohifi.com and many more. tubesandmore.com used to match basic tubes for something like $1 extra.
Best 5.1 ONLY receiver every made?
Beasts like the original Denon 5000 were great. However, KAL is correct. Missing things like DPL II, 24/96 and much more makes a huge difference. The last of the 5.1's that I'd consider would be an Anthem AVM-2 or perhaps a Sunfire. Who cares if a...
Need suggestion on VTL TL-5.5 tubes
Molfimadness, I thought 5751's had double the plate voltage of a 12ax7? They are a direct sub though. I find them a little too bright myself.
Amp output versus Speaker imput
1 watt of distortion can do more damage than 500 watts of clean power. You can never have too much. Keep in mind though that some of the best sounding amps made are only 3-7 watts.
Would an external DAC be of any benefit to me?
The DAC's in Anthems or B&K are really hard to beat. If you pick up an AVM-2 or AVM-20, they are relatively inexpensive and sound simply amazing for 2 channel. Keep in mind that the zone 2 outputs are NOT as nice quality sounding.
Budget Amp with Optical DAC
The Onkyo is garbage compared to everything else mentioned here.Remember that going from 50wpc to 100wpc will only gain you 3db. It takes 10db to audibly double the volume.I like the MH. If you don't think it will have enough, you need to up the a...
Budget Amp with Optical DAC
I just saw a music hall mambo on here for either 399 or 499? This would fit your bill perfectly. Built in DAC is very nice quality. This is an integrated amp. The power is 50 watts of class A power. Although it's not tubed, class A tends to sound ...

Multi - Zone System Setup
It's usually a little awkward using any receiver for zone 2. I'd really recommend a separate receiver to run the whole house. Denon makes a couple great receivers that will do the job nicely. You will still need an impedance matching speaker selec...
Would an external DAC be of any benefit to me?
YES. If you need theater too, there are some much better receivers and pre's for 2 channel (not to knock Onkyo but...).Receivers such as B&K or Sony ES will win hands down. Pre's like Anthem, Sunfire or B&K will sound much better. These al...
Yamaha Amp Nostalgia
Does it sound "warmer" than the Levinson? I find Levinson gear to be a little dry.
