If you really want to step it up try some better ...
Chord Hugo power supply help Hi Guys, thanks for trying. It's easy to find one that should work. However, I was told Chord requires their own PS for some unknown reason. I'm hoping a Chord dealer can jump in here.I would love to upgrade to a more robust PS if it's worth it...
BEST fullrange speaker drivers in existence, 4"-10" diameter range, and...Go! I use single 4" Merrill drivers in my Zigmahornets. I would never think of doubling or quadrupling these. The imaging is amazing and you won't get that with multiple drivers, just more sound. Most single drivers tend to be very efficient with p...
Watts, and clarity. The math hasn't changes since the 80's. You should gain 3db every time you double your wattage. The "perceived" volume will double with an increase of 10db.Speakers rated at 90db at 1 watt, will put out 93 at 2 watts, 96db at 4 watts, 99db at 8 ...
Tower vs Similar Bookshelf? You mentioned rear ports. Keep in mind that rear ports usually have to stay a couple of feet away from the rear wall or they get boomy. If it's truly a cabin and not a home you won't have room for this. Go sealed or front ports...
Setting up a system - What to buy WHEN? I agree with going to audio shows. Also, find some friends to borrow gear from. Once you have the speakers there are many different ways to power them: tubes, solid state, integrated, power amps, class A, class A/B, class D and more. You need ...
Two integrated amplifiers, tube and solid-state connected to same speakers If you have pre-amp outputs one of the solid state amps you can run that to another amp. At that point you only need a power amp, not another integrated. The hard part is connecting to just one pair of speakers. If you accidentally run both amps ...
Speaker problem AF-what speakers are you using? Yamahas do NOT like running less than 6 ohms into multi channel.
Tube amp for Verity Audio Parsifal Encore? Another member, Grimace, is using Cary pre and power amps with his Verity and it sounds amazing. He is using the same table and arm.
Marantz SR7012 vs. Rotel Amp Try the Rotel before buying, you can do better. It's not bad but power isn't everything. Your other problem is that if you use a different amp for Right and Left than you have on the center movies will not sound right. Look for either a 3 or 5 ...
Best Surround Amp. Have you tried using the Oppo as your pre straight to the Parasound? The Oppo does have volume and a nice dac.
Acuhorn 125 with Leben 15w amp The Leben is a beautiful sounding piece. However, I am not sure if it will have the slam you might want for movies? 15 watts runs out quickly on action films. Acuhorn even states on their web site that their speakers don't have "slam". 96db/1 ...
Would MA5300 Integrated be Worthwhile Upgrade Instead of an integrated, why not buy a Mac Power amp and scrap the Rotel. Big difference. That way you can keep using all of the features of the Marantz. For the wattage, 100 watts to 200 is only 3 db. Also, I would guess that the Mac's dynamic...
Pre amp replacement?? Help $2k is probably overkill when looking at the rest of your system. I'm not trying to "knock" what you have, just keeping things balanced. You can get a heck of a lot of preamp for $1000 to $1500. Make sure it has a phono pre built in. Other thing...
Pre amp replacement?? Help Just image the compromises when building a $1000 pre-pro. Now take that same budget to build a pure preamp. I'm not knocking Sony ES. They are nice. You will be better served with a 2 channel system. |
