B&W Matrix 801 Series II First, realize that you will get some polarizing answers on this site, as there are some who dislike the B&W sound. You should check out the review of this exact model at the Stereophile website : http://www.stereophile.com/floorloudspeakers/50...
Ipad to replace cd player? Girish,Just converting MP3 to a lossless format will not get you improved sound, as MP3, being a lossy format, has thrown away the original fidelity of the recording. You must re-rip from CD into a lossless file (WAV,FLAC,ALAC,etc) or download hi-...
How long do B&W 800 series speakers last My matrix 801 S2 was bought new in 1990. Looks brand new, no deterioration at all. Has always been kept in temp and humdity controlled environment. There is no deteriotion of the surrounds and they are still pliable. I listen to everything from sm...
B & W 801 Series II Vs Yamaha NS 2000 I agree with Rrog. If you are set on keeping the Sansui, then the Yamaha is a better match. You would need more amp power to drive the 801's.
A question on a B&W high pass filter JediniteI 'm aware of the Anodyne unit, but have never seen one for sale. I'm currently using the Listen Up Maugham Box for my 801 SII, haven't updated my system picture though. Not positive, but I believe they only made it for the 801 model.Oddly...
A question on a B&W high pass filter Jedinite-Don't know what you are willng to spend, but your other options for better quality are-1-Get the original, upgrade parts yourself if you have the expertise.2-Look for a used Golden Flutes Filter specific to the 805- I haven't seen many fo...
A question on a B&W high pass filter The short answer is that you probably won't damage your speaker (as long as you don't overpower them), but you also are not going to get much benefit. The filter is preset for the Freq. response of the 801. The variable filter allows you to set th...
10 Box Set of Beethoven - DG/Poyldor - 1972 Dtc, The book I am talking about is not the maroon book on Beethoven's life and works, which came with the 1st 10 volumes. There is a separate volume listing all the pieces on all 17 volumes, cross referenced so that you could locate them without ...
10 Box Set of Beethoven - DG/Poyldor - 1972 This was a set produced for the Beethoven Bicentennial. At the time, you signed up via mail and they would send 1 volume per month. The pressings are comparable to DG individual LPs of that era. The initial offer was only for 10 volumes, then ther...
What are your general thoughts of B&W speakers I had to respond after seeing all the B&w hate. I really never understood it, maybe a case of envy? After all, Abby Road studios, Skywalker Sound, DG & London/Decca can't all be wrong. I have owned the matrix series 2 since 1988. Around 20...
Phono Pre Amp Recommendation Just curious, what is your TT sitting on? It's true that the MC's lose a little bit of warmth. You need to go up in price to get more warmth. However, there are a lot of classical vinyl junkies out there who would not give up their Clearaudio cart...
Anyone using a Monolithic PS-1/HC1B phono preamp? Gopher, See my system. Been using the combo for about 8 years. No reason for me to upgrade at this point. Serves my needs.
B&W 804s too bright 1-1st of all, which 804-D, S, Nautilus, or matrix?2-2nd, if your speakers stay true to the B&W pedigree, then it's not that it is too bright, but rather revealing of less than ideal sources before the speakers- whether source recording, cdp, e... |
