40hz room mode RPG Modex Corner trap?
Nikturner920...To my ears, with Channel Islands D-200 amps driving Magneplanar MG1.6 through 4 foot Goertz cables...YES. However, if you determine audio quality by how much it costs, check out the Reference Audio Mods changes, available for the DE...
Small gauge ground wire, is it OK?
Gs5556...I was thinking only about how the ground wire might affect audio quality...not the trivial detail about burning your house down :-)
Review: Technics SL-1200Mk2 Turntable
Regarding the arm...It appears that VTF is provided by adjustment of the balance weight. A similar vintage TT that I once owned (Empire) generated VTF using a clock balance wheel spring. This meant that the arm was mass-balanced around all axes so...
The Single Piece That Started Today's HIGH END ?
I suggest that "High End" is a design and manufacturing philosophy, more than any particular piece of electronics. Back in the 1930s Stromberg Carlson, among others, built console radio/phonographs that were sonicly greatly superior to most, cosme...
Small gauge ground wire, is it OK?
There should be little or no current flow in the ground wire, so a large size, while OK, is not necessary.
Review: Technics SL-1200Mk2 Turntable
This review, and most of the comments, are better than what we (often) get from the professionals writing in the audiophile journals.Just one remark, that I see often, bugs me, and it is not really part of Ekobesky's observations, but just mention...
Review: Behringer DEQ2496 Equalizer
Smeyers...Go to www.referenceaudiomods.com.The "basic" mod ($400) would be the usual analog things like Op amps, capacitors, diodes, etc.Superclock ($295) would affect the digital stuff. The basic power supply changes will also help digital, but t...
Review: Behringer DEQ2496 Equalizer
Modifications are offered by Reference Audio Modifications (RAM) that are claimed to yield superb sonic characteristics to go with the superb digital functions. Only problem is that the full treatment will set you back about $1200.
Anyone try Townshend Super Tweeters?
Gregm...Credit should go to the Behringer auto equalization process. All I do is push the buttons.
Anyone try Townshend Super Tweeters?
Gregm...I am not sure I understand exactly your suggestion, but I have noticed that when playing music the spectrum measured by the microphone (real sound) on one analyser is amazingly alike to the spectrum measured (by a second analyser) for the ...
Anyone try Townshend Super Tweeters?
Gregm...What's with this 10 KHz roll off with CDs and speakers? My disc player measures flat to the top of my spectrum analyser,20 KHz, and, before equalization, my Maggie MG1.6QR only falls off in the highest 1/6 octave band (just below 20 KHz). ...
Noobie question ...
Kr4...Lucky you. How far do you go back? Not to the "TONE" control era I bet.
Noobie question ...
Kr4...There was a time when you needed to turn the BASS and TREBLE controls all the way up to make lousy speakers sound right. BASS and TREBLE controls were a big improvement over the "TONE" control, which boosted either (but not both) depending o...
New cd player-- or should I get SACD?
I think you want a "Universal" player. With a SACD player the PCM D/A may be a second-rate afterthought. If you have a player with DVDA capability this means that you have an up-to-date 24 bit D/A that can be run up to 196KHz, and that can't hurt ...
40hz room mode RPG Modex Corner trap?
Jburidan...The PARC is by all accounts a fine piece of equipment, and if you can afford it and buy it I am sure you will see a big improvement in your system. However, for other readers, if not you, I do want to correct several comments and misconc...
