New Music Recommendations 2012
I happened across a new group (I think it's just one guy) called Borealis Self titled album. It's pretty awesome if you like electronic music it's worth checking out. It's the album with the spine on the cover
Rack/shelf for albums - suggestions please
The expedit is fine and will hold LPs no prob but yes you do need to attach to the wall. I bought one and repainted it in a few different colors and replaced a couple of the shelves with walnut it looks awesome and you can't even buy the raw mater...
DAC /pre Advise NEEDED urgently
A benchmark DAC would be good it has a volume control and could be used as a preamp.
Waterlogged Thiel CS-3.6
No way you could get a used pair around 1000 I've seen them lots of times or upgrade. 2000 just for cabinets is not money well spent.
Changing racks from Grand Prix to home made??
Wow some great responses here. After thinking this through I think I will keep one 4 shelf grand prix rack and put the rest like the hard drive and computer in a modified sideboard. I am hoping that not having my power conditioner on the rack isn'...
Quad 21L2 vs Dynaudio Focus 140's???
Dynaudio is much better to my ear than quad. I own the powered quad monitors as well as a number of Dynaudio speakers including the new Xeo and the Dynaudio sound is much more natural. I would describe the sound of the quad as rather bright. They ...
What is the best sounding DAC at $2000-$4000?
I have never heard one but the new PS audio perfect wave II from what I've read sounds like it would definitely be worth checking out. Beyond that my best sound has come from a bryston BDA 1. The benchmark DAC for much cheaper isn't bad at all eit...
What is the best loudspeaker for a small room?
I would go for a mid sized floor stander or a bigger sized monitor on a stand. I've messed around with all kinds of speakers in my bedroom that is about the same size and a mid sized floor stander will give a lot of bass at least in my room it doe...
Why don't you like Mageplanar speakers?
I had a pair of 3.6 for a while and also spent a good deal of time at a friend's who had the 1.6s. I personally don't care for them above all because they are so big in size. You really do need a dedicated room to get the most out of these, they n...
WHICH ONE TO BUY?
You don't need separates. On a budget an integrated amp is definitely the most bang for the buck. If you could swing around 1000 a used integrated like the Creek Destiny or Sim Audio i5.3 would be a cornerstone of a great sounding system. There ar...
Opinions on Reference LP Digitization System ...
For that high a budget I'd definitely want to put more money into the AD conversion aspect. That is where it's at if you ask me. I recorded LPs for years and the improvements a wadia 17 AD converter brought was significant. I'm sure there are othe...
Odd Revel Performa M20 Question ?
Used revel M20s=serious bang for the buck. Those speakers fit and finish are far better than anything else I've owned.
I-Mac for computer audio?
The iMac works great. I have a mini and an iMac and I can't hear a difference.
Good optical cable
cool I ordered the 20$ optical cable, thanks for the info. It will be good to compare to the pricey Audiquest cable I already have.
Nottingham Space Deck owners - help needed
I was given the Polaris alignment protractor when I bought a Nottingham dais new. It was easier to understand than the db systems one I also have. I used it on a horizon as well as the dais and it works good http://www.russandrews.com/product-Pola...
