from Harbeth 30.1 to SHL5+, an upgrade or lateral move? I agree on many above and think that the shl5+ is like a 30.1 (wonderful midrange) but with deeper bass and more 3D feeling. I would want switch some day.
Upgrading tubes for Jadis Orchestra amplifier?? I have Golden Lion KT88 as output tubes and they are great, they are factory original from Jadis. Never heard the amp with other tubes that KT88. You should be able to install them as well if you want, but manual bias is needed! I recently swapped...
McIntosh MA6900 vs MA2275 for Rock Music And I have owned the MA2275 and it is a wonderful amplifier, but it is still a 75 watt tube amp and is not ideal for every speaker with all genres. I totally loved the amp, and I used hard to drive Dynaudio Focus 160 speakers, but it got very soft...
Jadis JA30 Mk2, how great??? Hi Butler, my amps are probably from the early 90's and I use Ei 6CA7 power tubesĀ (similar to EL34 but with better bass they say). I have tried 6550, KT90 and KT88 as well but I like the ones I use now. Besides, big tubes doesn't really fit. It's ...
Jadis JA30 Mk2, how great??? I don't have these mk2 amps but the regular ones, if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Dynaudio Contour 1.1 or Dynaudio Focus 160 Congrats, I'm sure they are great speakers. Remember to tell us how it turned out!
Dynaudio Contour 1.1 or Dynaudio Focus 160 Dylanfan, you wrote that the x32 where too big for your room. Was that because of the size or the sound? The Focus 160 goes much deeper than expected in my opinion, but my room creates booming sound if the speaker goes down to 50 Hz or below. If y...
Dynaudio Contour 1.1 or Dynaudio Focus 160 For me the Focus 160 where too big in my 16 sqm room, a bit boomy, the sound is lovely but I really don't like when the bass takes over. But all rooms are different. If you get a really good deal you can of course buy and try and sell if you dont'...
Dynaudio Contour 1.1 or Dynaudio Focus 160 I used to own Focus 160, they are great speakers but in my opinion they require a big room and very powerful amplifier, at least 100 watts. The sound stage is huge and the bass is deep, you should try them at home before buying I think.
Tube Integrated Amp for Dynaudio Focus 140 I tried McIntosh among others for my previous Focus 160 and there were no doubt in that Audio Research was the best partner, I tried ARC VS-115 power amp, highly recommended!
Got the upgrade bug I agree that you definately should try your exisiting gear in your new listening area. And keep in mind that if you're are satisfied with the sound as it is, you might end up chasing the same sound you started with, but with a lot less money in yo...
Harbeth sound with high wife acceptance factor? That girls don't like the Harbeth look simply isn't true. Both my girlfriend and her friends like the look of my two Harbeths, the small "cute" P3ESR and the bigger 30.1. They do not look like cheap plastic stuff that most people have in their hom...
Rotel Questions I have used a tube pre amp with a Rotel class D power amplifier (RB 1572) and it sounded very good. No, the 1520 can't be used as a power amplifier as there's no main in input. When you switch to a tube pre amp you probably will lose a lot of feat...
Jadis JA 50s power tubes Even if it was ok to use, are you sure they fit? KT 120 tubes a little wider than KT 88 that you currently are using, right?
Which Harbeth Speakers Handsomeck, I haven't heard either C7 or SHL5. The latter is too big for my room, maybe not sound wise, but the looks of it. The C7 just wasn't available in the store or in any store around where I live, that's why I had to chose the other two mod... |
