Aluminum wiring
The major problem with Al wire is that the ends connected to the various boxes/outlets etc. corrode over time. Al corrosion/oxidation is not conductive whereas copper's is. That is why the house fires (in very new housing at the time too) occured ...

Sony SCD-XA5400ES-Best SACD for under $10,000
I bought the XA last May. It is REALLY great on SACD (and I have about 50-60 of them). It replaced my Phillips SACD 1000. I was hoping it would be so good on Redbook that I could sell off my Ah! 4000 redbook player and recoup a few bucks. NO WAY.T...

Are you sure the belt is in the right groove on the motor? One is for 33 1/3, the other is for 45rpm. 
Tubes for Eastern Electric CD
Why not put the EH tubes back in and see which ones you like? The Amprex should have plenty of life in them if you use your unit normally. I have a Ah! cd player with the Amperex tubes and after 6+ years they are still great.
