Could Class D really be that good? I had a Krell FPB 200:amp, with a Pass Labs Aleph P preamp driving a pair of Martin Logan ReQuest speakers, and a dealer talked me into trying a Peachtree Nova 220:se to replace my Krell am and Pass preamp. I was totally amazed at the sound qualit...
Streamer only I am using the SMSL SD-9 as a streamer only. It also decodes MQA and sends it to your DAC already decoded. It supports Tidal and Qobuz and has a sods card slot that you can put a 256 GB memory card. It costs 399 dollars and sounds great. I am usin...
The OFFICAL Apple TV thread Wadia recommends ripping CD's as .wav files for maximum audio performance.I upgraded my toslink connection to Lifatec Silflex glass, and am very pleased. It is amazing the difference, especially in the highs. More shimmer and clarity in the upper ...
New Apple TV -- Anyone planning on it? I enjoy getting other people's opinions and learning from their experiences. I have an old set of Martin Logan Requests, Krell FPB 200, Pass Aleph P, and have been using a Krell KAV300 CD player wit Nordost interconnects. I grew tired of searching...
New Apple TV -- Anyone planning on it? Everyone's ears and systems are different, Kbarkamian. That's why I reported what I did. The difference is suttle, but I could hear it. Electrostatic speakers are quite revealing, and they will provide their opinion on all your components and the ...
New Apple TV -- Anyone planning on it? I just got an Apple TV ver 2, and connected it to my PS Audio III DAC, feeding a Pass Aleph P pre-amp, Krell FPB 200 into Martin Logan ReQuests. My testing so far shows no difference in sound quality, as long as I import my CD's as wave files. The...
PS audio digital link 3 or similiar Dac I got the PS DL III to upgrade the D/A of my Krell KAV 300CD. Wow, what an improvement in the sound, especially at 192K! It competes well with my vinyl playback system (VPI Scout, Graham Slee Mk V & Elevator, Shelter 501). It has a sweetness t...
Pre amp for Krell FPB & Teac P-70 & D-70?? I'm using a Pass Aleph P with my Krell FPB 200. This preamp can be hard to find, but are reasonable (1,500USD) when you do. That single class A MOSFET design, with balanced outputs is a good fit to warm up a Krell.
phono cable suggestions.. I'm having success with Nordost Red Dawns. My equipment is: VPI Scout, Shelter 501 II, Graham Slee Evevator EXP, Graham Slee Gold MKV. The clarity and transparency is phenominal, and I'm not getting interference.
Best blues guitarist, Clapton or Green Johnny Copeland is the blues. I saw him live in Houston TX, and I'm still speechless to describe his performance. Technical ability the blues does not make....its comes from a life experience. It really shows in Copeland's guitar playing. He was i...
Pass Aleph P Feeding two amplifiers? I use the balanced set to drive a Krell FPB 200, and a single RCA to drive my subwoofer amp. The active devices in the Pass Aleph P are power mosfets. Check the specks...I think it will act as a 20 ma max +- current source into a dead short.
Rack/stand for VPI Scout I'm using the Atlantic Reference 5 rack. The top shelf sits on spikes, which isolates it from vibration. I'm getting very good performance from this setup.
Which sub $1k phono stage to go? If it is the high-output version, the Graham Slee ERV Gold MkV is hard to beat. I'm using it, and it is nothing short of breathtaking. It also was just ranked Class A by Stereophile. If its low-output, move up to the Graham Slee Elevator EXP. I'm ...
Maryland,Wash.DC Metro area I'm an audiophile in Bowie, MD...just 15 miles north of DC. Recently, I've got into vinyl, and am astounded at the sound quality that is available in a well-recorded record.I'm definatley interested in forming a club.
Best amps for full range electrostatic loudspeaker I'm using a Krell FPB 200 w/Pass Aleph P. It has plenty of power to drive my Martin-Logan ReQuests. The Pass gives it a "tubey" sound. |
