TAD 150 An update. All of the sudden this thing REALLY opened up. Much more low level detail. But not just detail. The dynamics, micro & macro, are much more immediate & realistic. Same goes for the decay. This meager little assesment doesn't do j...
Marantz 8260 CD/SACD I bought a Maxell CD lens cleaner yesterday. But I don't know if I need to use it. The player seems to be working perfectly now, even when I leave it on. I'm perplexed by this whole thing. I want to get the Sony modded and give it a try. But the w...
TAD 150 Well...I listened to the TAD all weekend and it just keeps getting better. It's very detailed, yet not at all bright. The bass keeps getting deeper and tighter. Overall, very detailed, yet smooth, solid and full.So far I'm very pleased with the pu...
Quality headphone playback on a notebook computer? Try a Headroom amp or Dac. I have Total Airhead and it is amazing. They also make a BitHead, Total BitHead and portable DAC just for your type of application.http://www.headphone.com/products/headphone-amps/
Dual Disc Problems? Could be your 8260. Out of the blue, mine has started acting up. Bought it used, worked fine for over a year, now all of the sudden it's having trouble reading discs. Especially if they have ANY scratches at all.
Marantz 8260 CD/SACD I've heard NOT to use those cleaning CD's. The article I read said they may knok the laser out of alignment. Has anyone experienced that?
Marantz 8260 CD/SACD Actually, it seems to have fixed itself. Someone in another forum posted that leaving it on all the time made theirs worse. So I turned mine off for a day and now it's fine. Go figure. Plus the discs that I was having the problem with were fairly ...
Marantz 8260 CD/SACD Interesting that you mention the Sony. I just bought a Sony DVP-NS900V SACD/CD/DVD player on a recommendation from Paul at TRL. He says the modded Sony will "blow away" the Marantz. Even a modded Marantz.I know the ModWright mods are more expensiv...
TAD 150 Left work early to come home and hook it up. Let it run for about an hour before sitting down to listen. WOW! It's VERY nice right out of the box. Smooth, tight, extended, detailed, you name it! I didn't know tubes sounded this good. I can't wait ...
TAD 150 My TAD 150 will be here tomorrow. I'll post impressions when I get it up and running.E-
Which iPod? I use a 3rd gen(i think) 15 gig with the shure headphones. Sounded great, until I hooked it up to a Headroom Total Airhead portable amp. It's a HUGE improvement over the iPod alone. Now I can't stand to listen to the iPod without the amp.
TAD 150 Eagleman-Keep us posted. I won't be giving up my McCormack any time soon. If I need to upgrade, it will go back to Steve McCormack for one of his improvements. I'm very interested to see how the tubes sound. The only other time I tried tubes was m...
TAD 150 I plan on buying it. It may be a week or two until I get it, but I'll post back with impressions.E-
TAD 150 Arni-One more thing. As someone, maybe you, posted in the other thread, in this price range, with tubes, I may sacrafice some extension in the lows and some resolution/detail in the highs. Do you think that's the case with the TAD. The guy who own...
TAD 150 Someone deleted the thread, I don't know who. I was actually looking for you, your advice seemed reasonable and you were familiar with the gear I was looking at.I've found an elusive TAD-150 for sale used. As soon as the guy gets his new equipment... |
