Outlet is "Open Ground" - Is There Still a Safe Way to Connect to My Audio Gear?
@jea48  The replacement GFCI breaker is a good alternative, if somebody manufacturers a retrofit for what is likely a 60 year old breaker box. Ideally, OP would hire an electrician to install a dedicated 20 amp circuit and verify that the sub and...
Outlet is "Open Ground" - Is There Still a Safe Way to Connect to My Audio Gear?
@erik_squires You should get the grounding issue fixed, but the only "fix" for this I know of is to use a GFCI outlet and label it with the sticky labels that say "No Equipment Ground."  This is what NEC code calls for. Had to scroll too far d...
the gateway product that turned you into an audiophile
I purchased a Denon receiver and B&W bookshelves to incorporate into my 5.1 HT ten years ago. I soon came to enjoy stereo music far more than HT. Curious to improve the sound, I purchased a stereo amp, later an external dac, streamer and so on...
Why so many AQ Hurricane PC's for sale?
For anyone who isn’t aware, you can mail suspected fake cables to AQ and they will check their validity free if charge. I did this with Fire XLRs I bought used many years ago. Just don't expect to have your cables returned if fake.
Best amplification for Magico S3 newer version on your experience
Vitus’ warm class A sound is common to match with Magico speakers. I have the S3mkii paired with an SIA 030 and am satisfied. Vitus power output specs are conservative given their large transformers. Swapping between class A and A/B at the press o...
Is there a ROON sound?
@fynnegan I guess it’s nice for people who know nothing about the history of music.  I actually needed Roon to tell me what music is. Still confused. Need help.
Is there a ROON sound?
I have a Nucleus with LPS and an Aurender N20. The Conductor app sounds more transparent and resolving, but Roon sounds fuller with better mids. Just a matter of preference, I suppose. I find myself returning to Roon for the great UI and functiona...
Chinese DAC's
I clicked "Chinese DAC’S" hoping to read some informed audio opinions. I instead stumbled upon a dumpster fire thread.
HAVE CABLES EVER TAKEN YOUR SYSTEM FROM SOUNDING JUST OK TO SOUNDING GREAT? Experiences ?
I swapped out AQ Fire XLRs for Firebirds and was truly shocked by the improvement. The Firebirds are more balanced, natural and refined. I also demoed the XLR Thunderbirds alongside the Firebirds. Surprisingly, the silver Fire and copper Thunderbi...
Let's talk about Silver...
@kennymacc   You mention high quality silver XLR but preferred the Thunderbird. Did you audition the Firebird XLR by chance? Curious about your thoughts if so.
Audio racks that can handle heavy components
Using Quadraspire SVT which limits 175lbs per shelf. Price depends on number of shelves. Very stable with moderately heavy components, including 140lbs amp on top shelf.

Bose buys McIntosh
I began to worry when McIntosh partnered with Jeep to make car stereos. They incorporated their iconic blue meters into Jeep's infotainment display. Wasn’t a good sign.
Room with glass windows as a walls.
I suggest heavy curtains, a dense rug and DSP! I place acoustic panels along my windowed wall while listening. Gotta work with you have!
Magico speakers too clinical and fatiguing?
Vitus + Magico combination here. Been very satisfied and never felt fatigued.
