How often do you swap out equipment in general
Time for tweeks like ICs, tubes, furniture, etc...... A lot less expensive....
How often do you swap out equipment in general
I built my system around the Vandersteen 2CE sigs that I purchased back in '02. I have had 5 Amps since then and 6 preamps since then. I have only changed sources once (CD and TT). I have upgraded all stock ICs and PCs. I have been fortunate in th...
tube amps sounding like solid state and vv
Marty, FWIW I gave up my tube amp and went with the TAD Hibachis beefed up version. Sonics are similar to the TADs tube amps but, a bit more up front and quicker.I have a tube CD and preamp so that may contribute to the tube sound that I am hearin...
I want an inexpensive chinese tube power or integr
Not sure what the current price is but TAD has a 100Watt/ channel set of tube monos that might fit the bill. Give Paul an email at Bizzy Bee and see what he says. I have his Pre, SS monos, and 60 watt tube amp and in my experience, they are hard t...
Anyone recommend a neutral tube amp?
Thanks Detlof, I am not an experienced tube Amp user and, appreciate your insight here.
Anyone recommend a neutral tube amp?
Atmosphere- I am saying that a tube amp takes on the sound character of the tubes that it is running. In my experience, ( which is very limited), changing tubes seem to change the sound on the same tube amp to where you really cannot detect the so...
Tube amps have a signature sound
I think that the sound is more dependant on the tube character that goes into them. I think tube amps tend to have a signature character rather than sound and that is what has been described here. Characteristics meaning lifelike mids, soundatsge,...
TAD Rocks Big Time
I echo the praise of Springbok. I have had the Pre, the TAD 60 and now the TAD125. His products do not seem to have any sonic character of their own. They seem to take on the sound of the tubes , ICs PCs, CD players, or speakers. The character tha...
Anyone recommend a neutral tube amp?
Don't most tube amps take on the general character of the tubes so they generally do not have their own sound.
TADs SS Hibachi Amps
David,Can you compare it to the TAD 60 which I have?
TADs SS Hibachi Amps
This thread was not meant to be a joke. This company puts out some excellent equipment at very reasonable prices. I have his amp and pre. I was just wondering if anyone has had a chance to try this set of monoblocks.
DK Design MkIII and Vandersteen 2Ce Signature II
I am a vandy 2CE signature owner. While i have not heard the combo that you are asking about, I did hear an MK2 next to a McCormack 125 and really liked the up front sound of the DK. I had a McCormack DNA-1 at one time with my Vandys. In hindsight...
To tube, or not to tube, that is the question
I second the TAD pre and amp combo. I am running them with Vandy 2CE signatures and the sound changes dramatically with rolling tubes. If you want to stay integrated you can usually find a DK Design for unnder $1500. i have seen them as low as 110...
Klipsch KG4 v. Vandersteen 2ce NOT Sig
I am driving the Vandys (2ceSigs) with a TAD60 Amp, TAD150 sig pre. Using amperex 12AU7s and tung sol 6550s in the amp, I do not find the Vandys to be laid back at all. My amp is 60 watts per side and I listen alomost exclusively to classic rock. ...
