Classe 101 vs. McCormack DNA125: opinions?
I agree with the above. I have a McCormack DNA-1 with 150 watts/ chanel into 8 that replaced a B&K 4420 with 225 watts and the McCormack sounds fuller and more powerful. No problem driving vandersteen 2CE sigs.Eagleman
Looking to Upgrade Amp & Preamp
JBiii,I agree with what Sean says about going all out. I went the gradual upgrade route and wound up spending very little money. I bought my Vandersteen 2ce sigs 2.5 years ago while I had APt Holman Amp and pre. I purchased excellent speaker wire ...

Why Don't More People Love Audio?
CDC and REX, I don't think the problem has to do with what speakers or electronics are made for rock. I believe many rock bands produce music that is either too poorly recorded to be listened to on good systems or the music that is produced is too...
Hum or buzz through speakers
Well guys, I tried everthing that i could think of and finally took the TAD-150 to a local hi-fi outlet to see if the buzz and hum was present on their systems. Turned out that the same noise was present there so i will be sending back to Bizzy-Be...
Hum or buzz through speakers
Well newbee, that didn't work. ny other ideas are welcome.
Cheap surge protector that doesn't sound horrible?
Hold off on the Monster. I have an HTS1000 and I am getting hum and Buzz when I put a TAD-150 in my system (tube pre). I have been told by several people that the Monster has a ground problem that will show up on sensitive equipment....
Hum or buzz through speakers
Thanks Newbee, i will give that a shot....
Hum or buzz through speakers
Well,I changed preamps from the ARC to the TAD-150. The hum or buzz was fairly low and not audible unless I got right near the speakers. When I hooked up the TAD-150 I could hear the hum and buzz from across the room. I unhooked the IC's and it se...
Why Don't More People Love Audio?
Bombaywalla, Actually I am both. Discriminating as you describe for CDs and records that sound good and analytical. I just changed tubes in my Audio research sp9 Mk2 to Amperex USN-CEP's which completely changed the character of the pre. Last week...
Why Don't More People Love Audio?
To Bombaywalla,Point #2 analytical listening. I checked with my wife who has no interest in high end audio. She doesn't listen to how the music sounds. All she is interetsed in is what song is on and if she likes the song. I began my analytical se...
How to build your own tube amplifier?
What sort of expertise does one need in order to do this. Is it just a matter of following instructions or do you need to be an engineer type person?Eagleman
Why Don't More People Love Audio?
Seevral things that come to my mind are:1)Money. People put music low on the priority list.2)Anlytical listening. Most people don't listen to how the music sounds, they just listen to the music.3)Many people listen to music only at parties or get-...
McCormack DNA .5? Do I need more power?
I have Vandersteen 2CE Signatures @ efficiency of 86DB. I had the B&K 4420 driving them but moved to a McCormack DNA-1. 150 channel into 8 but probably running close to 200 because the Vandys are 7 ohms I think. The unmodded DNA-1 provides ple...
ARC SP9 MK2 tubes
Well, purchased a pair of Amperex NOS USN-CEP's from a reputable company that had test result and guarantees. Prior I had those grand dragons and they sounded dry, the voices were nasal and the bass was too tight. With the Amperex, the warmth came...
