best Speakers Cables for Magnepan 3.6R ? Audience Au24 is what I use and is the best of the cables I have tried. Agreed, single run is better than bi-wire.
Noise from REL Stadium III Sub I think you should contact Sumiko. They may know exactly what it is. If a component needs to be replaced, I have read that the modular construction of the REL subs allow them to be repaired by the owner rather than shipping them off.
Which Amp for Magnepan MG 3.6/R? Audience Au24 are the best of the ones I have tried with my Magnepans.
Trelja's new tube amplifiers - Granite 860.1 Trelja:I've been really impressed with the Granite Audio 657 CD player also. If I am ever in the market for new amps, I will have to check them out. What tubes are you using in your 657?
Placette RVC review in Stereophile Drubin: I see the symbiosis between magazine and manufacturer as a good service to audiophiles for the most part. The magazine needs gear to review and sell advertising at the same time the manufacturer needs the publication to inform the consumer...
Placette RVC review in Stereophile Drubin: I was aware of the review in TAS of the Active Linestage Preamp from the Placette website, but I do not subscribe to that magazine or know if Placette advertises there. I'll phone a friend who does subscribe. Looking through every issue of...
Placette RVC review in Stereophile Even though it was a very short review, the author was clearly more than just impressed with the performance of the simple volume control. He admitted he was stunned to the point of completely rethinking his listening priorities.Like BD, I also fo...
That tube sound I agree with Tomryan. I have owned two highly regarded tube preamps, the SF Line 2 and Line 3 SE. The Placette Passive was a major improvement in my system. His description "clouded and constricted the sound" is what I found to be true as well.The...
Aerosmith's Honkin On Bobo You may never end up really liking the album, but I found I like it more after a few plays. AMG has given it the highest rating (4 stars) of any Aerosmith initial release since 1989's "Pump"(4.5 stars). Clapton's "Reptile" was good in parts, but I...
Best Redbood CD Player Used/New under $7K I owned a Sonic Frontiers SFCD-1 tube cd player and used it in my system for a couple of years. It is a very nice looking player and the interior layout is like a work of art. The SFCD-1 is HDCD compatible and it has been regarded by many as one o...
Is there a worthy 6922 presently made? John_tracy: Thanks for the clarification and I agree the tube market these days is not as large as it once was. However, the market for the tubes used in guitar amps, recording equipment, and hifi components has seen steady growth each year since ...
Is there a worthy 6922 presently made? Mikesinger, When I said:"With proper designs, materials, and production techniques, there is no reason why new tubes will not be as good or better than the best of the NOS tubes, if they aren't already."I meant "in some cases" for some tube models...
Is there a worthy 6922 presently made? The majority of the new tube production is sold to musicians and related gear. The sales of tubes for Hifi are small by comparison. Like audiophiles, many musicians realized the sonic benefits of some NOS tubes and it was just a matter of time unt...
Is there a worthy 6922 presently made? LOL Maxgain, I agree the Electroharmonix 6922 gold pin sound great in my cdp compared to the other tubes I have tried including NOS Amperex, Siemens, Telefunken, new and nos Sovtek, 6h23eb and some others. It's a crapshoot when buying "NOS" and I ...
