Audioquest Makenzie XLRs
My experience has been the opposite. I've found that you can do much better than Audioquest at the same price point. I'd also avoid silver-plated connectors and silver-plated spades which is what Audioquest uses on most of their products.
Cambridge Audio Product Reliability
I purchased a Cambridge Audio 640C CD Player in Christmas 2004 and used it daily for just about three years. It has since been placed into a secondary system and received very little use since. However, just today I've experienced issues. When I p...
Audioquest Rocket series
I used Audioquest in a Rotel/B&W system. I thought it was a no brainer, considering that AQ wiring is always used in Rotel/B&W systems at the shows. The Audioquest just made everything sound small, congested, and confined to the speakers. ...
Audioquest Rocket series
Earlier in the year, I took advantage of Music Direct's closeout prices on Audioquest and wired my system with King Cobra ICs, Rocket 44s, and NRG-4 power cables...basically AQ's best of the non-DBS stuff. My ears never really liked the sound; bas...
Triode wire or audio quest
Earlier this year, I took advantage of MusicDirect's closeout prices and wired my B&W/Rotel system with Audioquest (King Cobra, Rocket 44, NRG-4's) on the cheap. It only took me three months to realize I didn't like it. It was veiled, bright, ...
Sony ES vs Rotel
I have experience with the two brands. I know you asked specifically about each company’s CD players but I’ll also give my experience on their amplification as well.In terms of source components, Sony walks all over the Rotel. My old Sony CE595 SA...
Audioquest vs Acoustic Zen
I actually replaced my Audioquest cables (King Cobra, Bedrock, and 4 NRG-4 power cables) with AZ WOW, Satori, and El Nino power cords late last year and never looked back. The AZ's presented a fuller/richer tonality in the mids with playful, tunef...
Help my Rotel RCD 1072 make music
Just a quick update -- yes I still own the Rotel gear. I finally found the culprit which turned out to be the AudioQuest cables.Earlier in the year, I replaced the AudioQuest cables (Bedrock, King Cobra, and NRG-4's) with Acoustic Zen Matrix Ref, ...
What are your general thoughts of B&W speakers
Nice upper mids and highs... but... no bass.
Audioquest Red River vs. Big Sur interconnects
While I don't have direct experience with the cables listed, I think either one will likely be a safe choice. All of the copper AudioQuest cables I've used which consisted of silver-plated RCA/spade connectors contributed to a brighter, thin sound...
Any Rotel love around here? Looking to power my Sonus Faber Olympica 3
I held onto a RCD-1570 just in case. I'm not a fan of the slot loader but it works. Other than that, garbagio for the past 8 years. @donjr Don, I haven't heard the RCD-1570 but did own its predecessor, the highly regarded RCD-1072. Let's just s...
Help my Rotel RCD 1072 make music
itzhak1969, did you upgrade to Mcintosh SS or tubes? My dream system consists of Mcintosh components and Sonus Faber Olympia towers I heard at Magnolia last Christmas. Best system I've heard in a long time.
Help my Rotel RCD 1072 make music
Yes, the Sony was used for a long time in the same room/system. The sound wasn’t steely and edgy like it is now once the Rotel player was added.
