Houstonreef, you have to fill the frame with all drivers attached to the frame, regardless of what material you are going to use
Capacitor log Mundorf Silver in Oil
Hi Houstonreef.I put Dynamat into the mid/high enclosures a long time ago. Also wanted to fill the frame with lead shots but could not get any in my part of the world. Used sand instead. Made a small improvement. Remember Chadeffect tried the sand...

Hi Houstonreef,I was pretty sure that you will be blown away. Mundorf caps are just average sounding! good that you have soldered all internal connections. This alone makes a nice improvement for nothing!Guess sound will improve further with break...

Not sure about the size/gauge of the internal wiring. For speaker cables I use VD Master bi-wire on the horns.Believe they are 10 gauge solid core copper. Heard Duelund also makes internal hookup wire. Maybe you try these

Houstonreef,I change the internal wire to Audio Note silver. Do not use any jumper cable cause I'm tri-wiring my speakers.

Houstonreef, I use the teflon v-caps in my omega duos and they needed forever to burn in. not sure how long the cast will need. If the cast are extremely big you might not be able to attach them to the rear cover so you might be able to hang them ...

Houstonreef, as a duo owner I'd like to suggest to get rid the the xo board inside the tweeter housing. attach the new cap + the coil with cable ties the rear cover and solder everything together. sounds much better. Extending the caps leads will ...
Big, big room -- which 10-20k speakers?
the trios will fill your space with ease but they are beyond the budget mentioned. Depending on required volume levels you can add subs. the new 231 subs ( 2 x 12" driver per side) sound very good and I guess you would at least need 2 subs her sid...
Big, big room -- which 10-20k speakers?
If you want to fill such a huge room and enjoy to listen close to life levels the speakers mentioned won't do the job IMO. Also you need speakers with a narrow dispersion. I'd like to suggest some used Avantgarde Omega Duos but you would have to a...
Avantgarde UNO set-up tips needed
As a long time omega duo owner I would like to comment re the speaker need to be cranked up to sound good. Most likely your amp is the culprit. I guess it is a medium powered ss amp which is NOT made to drive high efficient horns. I heard trios wi...
Purepower APS a reliable product?
Aressiu, exactly the same happened to my 700 unit. I switched it on, heard a bang. After that it smelled like burned electronics. A few times Damian responded to my mails. They don't make the 700 boards anymore and he is looking for a solution. cal...
Von Schweikert VR-6 or Wilson Audio Watt/Puppies 5
sorry, can't give any recommendations. I would start a new thread asking for speaker suggestions for your particular amp, budget etc.once a year I get to hear my friends VR6. They still look gorgeous but I feel they sound so dynamically compressed...
Von Schweikert VR-6 or Wilson Audio Watt/Puppies 5
I've owned the VR6 a long time ago and sold them to a friend who still uses them. He also drives them with a low powered push pull tube amp (cayin). Those speakers were quite good at its time but I thing for 4-5 K you can get a better sounding spea...
companies that modify equipment...opinions
I totally agree with audiengr. a simple tweak almost everyone can do is to replace the cheap cap in series with tweeter with a really high end ones. I replaced the mundorf silver/gold with teflon v-cap in my avantgarde omega duos. the difference i...
