Need help and advice on a VPI 3D arm
My 3D arm began bending too. I sent pictures to them and they sent me the new one with the thicker head shell. Now I too need longer screws.
Room Treatment for a
Thanks for responding, Gents. It turns out, much to my relief, the room sounds pretty good as is.
How do you like your VPI Prime?
Got mine this morning with an Ortofon Blue Cadenza cartridge and the SDS power supply. Although not even close to being broken in, it blows away my tweaked GyroDec (Rega RB600 Arm, Denon 103R cateridge, Orb Platter/Clamp, upgraded power supply, we...
Anyone try the Bryston BDP-2 or the BDA-2 Dac
I was seriously considering the BDP until I read the user's manual. It appears it has no WiFi capability and therefore only connect to you LAN via an ethernet cable. Hard to imagine in this day and age. Can any of you owners confirm this?Thanks,Du...
Less than top line reel-to-reel worth it?
Thanks for all the responses. I should mention I am not very interested in recording. So far, I've gathered that it takes at least 7 1/2 ips to be comparable to vinyl, and, of course, condition of the unit and tape is critical.
VAC Avatar Super review
Simone,I have owned both the Avatar SE and the Avatar Super, and I feel the Super is better in every way, except: You can not switch to triode. If you are in love with the triode sound you may not care as much for the ultrlinear sound of the Super.
Vac Avatar or Cary SLI-80
I have owned two VAC Avatars: An SE and a Super. They both sounded wonderful and were biukt like tanks. I paired them with JMLab Mini Utopias (8 ohms) with very good results. Im my experience, all VAC gear is top notch. My only experience with Car...
Moon Nova or Eclipse?
Fire your dealer. He is putting his own interests ahead of yours. He does not deserve your business. Personally, I would contact Simaudio and relate your experience. I doubt Simaudio would be pleased with this authorized dealer's characterization ...

Logarithmic Frequency response graphs
Thanks, Eldartford, but I must still be missing something because it seems to me that the x axis would not be any harder to read if the octaves between the decades were spaced evenly on the line. Since the octives themsleves are spaced evenly, wha...
Logarithmic Frequency response graphs
Thanks for the responses. Let me re-phrase the question a little more specifically. Why do I usually see freq. response graphed logaritmically between octaves while the ocataves themselves are spaces linearly?
Speaker ports and impedance
Thanks for all the responses.Thinkat and Bombaywalla, you guys confirm what I observed, so now the question is: why does it do that?Piezo, If what you say is true, then what could account for the correlation between impedance and port tuning?Gs555...
Amps for jm lab mini-utopia - - any suggestions?
My minis sound great with VAC triodes
Next Generation SACD Players
Thsalmon, So glad to hear you are enjoying your Tri-vista. I am currently on a quest to find the best SACD player in the $5000 (street price) region, though it must be in the same league as my Simaudio Moon Eclipse with Redbook CDs. How do you fin...
