Changes in DAC Presentation - Need Advice
+1 @tennisdoc56  - break-in can offer long-term gradual improvements to many components but to swing SQ mid-song by such a noticeable level sounds like a major fault.
Isoacoustics Orea vs Townshend Seismic Pod on Components
An option I found works very well is to put the whole rack on Townshend Seismic Corners. The effect is substantial, and similar to isolating each component with 4 pods. Having done this then subsequently isolating individual components makes no di...
Questions about Ethernet Cabling
@jerrybj What is the company called please?  I like the sound of this.
Questions about Ethernet Cabling
@jerrybj - you’ll need one of these optical to Ethernet converters. Here    Where did you buy a modded Cisco from?  And what mods were made?
Roon Streaming Service actually Degrades the sound
I have tested SQ of Roon (hosted on remote Roon rock NUC) vs files or Qobuz streams played direct from the same local network bridge. Absolutely zero SQ difference.
Questions about Ethernet Cabling
@cakyol - the OP stated this in his first sentence PLEASE READ: This is not a thread about the merits or demerits of audiophile-grade ethernet cables, or any cable for that matter. If you don’t believe in spending extra on expensive cables, I resp...
Questions about Ethernet Cabling
If you want a good switch that does not cost a lot may I recommend the Cisco 2960?  Bought used on eBay these are around £50 in the uk ($65).  Audio switches are expensive due to short production runs.  Despite these Cisco switches being manufactu...
Looking for a SS integrated Amplifier recommendation going into a new system
I have similar musical tastes to yourself and home demoed a few SS integrated amps. It is worth trying to hear a few as some, to my ears, are over-detailed and fairly dry sounding compared to the sound signature you describe that you prefer.  I wo...
If your down on your system…
“If your down on your system…”. Interesting use of YOUR. In the UK when we abbreviate YOU ARE we write YOU’RE. Maybe in the US you have lost the apostrophe and the ’E’? Or is it simply a mistake?
Ethernet and USB cables
After much ’messing about’ with cables my conclusion was: for long runs optical is best followed by cat 8 down to cat 5. I did not try Hifi quality for this section as the run is 20 meters. For shorter runs I found small differences between cables...
Which component to upgrade to improve bass control?
I have a very boomy bass in my room. It is the room/speaker interaction that is at fault. I believe you have three choices. (1) You should try alternative speakers. In my room only very few speakers would work without a boom. I demoed many in my r...
How are most audiophiles going from streamers to DACS
@itsjustme nailed it.  USB to the DAC.  Change the streamer if it has no usb out.
Rank the tweaks, geeks!
Great thread. In ranked order:1. Speaker Cable. Townshend F1 Fractal and to a lesser extent HFC CT1-E cable were so far above anything else. 2. Power cord to DAC. Not any power cord. Only the Shunyata Alpha EF did the business. Others had minimal ...
Streamer Advice / Recommendation for Denafrips R2R DAC
If others are reading looking for advice then I’d suggest the Pro-ject Streambox S2 Ultra over the Auralic Aries G1. It is one-third of the price, one eighth of the size and in my A/B tests in a very revealing system it sounds just as good. Also, ...
streamer to DAC connection
USB best.  No documentation to prove it.  Just lots of testing. And if you want to listen to DSD, which is to be recommended as it sounds better if a genuine DSD recording (ie not simply upsampled) then you need USB.
