Are Dust Covers a MUST
intuitively i would think the dust cover acts like a microphone and receives air borne vibrations. it would requite some pretty fancy vibrational analysis to design a dust cover that attenuates or drains vibration. which is in itself a tricky subj...
phonocable for dynavector xv-1s
to operate your aqvox to it full potential in current mode, you will need xlr on the phono preamp side. so you might need some sort of custom termination. i just ordered a custom furutech din/xlr ag-12 myself. i don't have it yet tho.
Would a Dynavector XX2 MkII be good upgrade?
an XX-2 has a 6mm cantilver length. the 17D3 only 1.7 mm.
Would a Dynavector XX2 MkII be good upgrade?
The XX-2 is easier to set up than the stubby 17D3. The cantilever is longer. You sort of have to guess that the cartidge body is aligned with the cantilever on the 17D3. You can even download a protractor from vinyl engine. Just don't print to sca...
From LP12 to where...?
i had an lp12 for 17 years. upgraded the bearing to cirkus, upgraded the power supply valhalla to lingo, upgraded the arm from basik to ekos. i even learned to tune the bounce myself. once i heard the cost of the keel, i gave up supporting it. i b...
Graham Phantom Armwand
if one had a late 2008 phantom i and got the titanium arm tube would be equivalent to the phantom ii?
Graham Phantom - Armrest Setup
it's the same hex as the one to loosen VTA.
VPI RCM Vacuum Wand Velvet Strips
I guess it all boils down to how much your time is worth to you. From a turn key solution, a replacement tube is pretty unfussy at $25. At today's cost of new vinyl, it doesn't seem too high to me. But I see your POV from a green inititative. Some...
Soundsmith "The Voice"?
There is a stereomojo review recently posted. It's an admirable performer. I am fascintaed by the design but it is not compatible with my phono stage. Frank Shroeder was so taken by the design that he built a special low mass bamboo arm for its un...
Own a TW-Acustic Raven One?
i would think most listeners have to take a leap of faith with tw tables since there is no local dealer unless you live in ny or know a tw owner nearby. i can assure you though that if you want a robust, dense, visceral presentation with powerful ...
Own a TW-Acustic Raven One?
Palasr Richard,Epiphany is the right word. I didn't want to oversell the concept. Many listeners in Europe feel that TW spent alot of time researching belt materials so I didn't want to be too harsh but the reality is that the performance gap is q...
Own a TW-Acustic Raven One?
I am currently experimenting with 1/4" mylar tape. I am quite surprised with how much more bass, microdynamics and increase in soundstage you get with this.
Own a TW-Acustic Raven One?
the biggest difference was in the density of the tones and bass foundation of the music. the vpi has a much lighter presentation and to me a bit analytical but some might prefer it. vpi has a broad dealer network and parts and service is likely re...
Own a TW-Acustic Raven One?
i have one and i heard an aries 3 but not in the same environment. i chose the raven. there's alot more info on pink fish. most of those listeners are european so not many compared to vpi. many of them are ex-linnies as i am.
Raven AC one motor
don't mean to jack the thread but does anyone use a periphery ring?
