Digital Amplifier Questions back to the Op - W4S manual said to leave the ST1000 on all of the time.
Amp recommendation for Magnepan 3.7's? Hi Labtec,Do you have any recommendations for a warm, resolving, and live sounding solid state amp for Maggie 3.6's that you have heard and liked? Not to steal the OP's thread but that would be good information for 3.7's as well!Dsper
Amp recommendation for Magnepan 3.7's? I drive my Maggie 3.6's with a W4S ST1000. Dynamic, detailed, and can play loud in 35 X 8 X 16 room.Having said that, I think that it also sounds a little bit lean and not real live. I am searching for a "warmer" amp that provides a little bit mor...
Help with Preamp selection I would second the W4S STP SE at this point in time as I am on a similar journey.I run an W4S ST1000 amp and have tried in home auditions of an ARC LS26 and Rogue Magnum 99 with it and feel that the W4S STP SE is better than those two. I think tha...
What tube preamp is a step up from Rogue Magnum 99 Thank you for the responses! My continuing saga.I take the Rogue Magnum 99 back to my local dealer and ask him what he considers a step up from the Rogue that I could try as an in home audition. He suggests that I might try an ARC LS26 that has jus...
Looking for a preamp to pair with W4S monoblocks I would agree on the idea of a W4S STP-SE.Mine has been paired to a W4S ST1000 for about two years to run Maggie 3.6s.Very resolving and dynamic but not sterile. I have certain music that I can only describe "sweet sounding" with these components....
Magnepan 1.7 and Subwoofer help/recommendations I had Maggie 1.7's and never had a problem with bass down to about 40 to 50Hz. After that, they were anemic. Also a little too hot on the treble end.I traded up to Maggie 3.6's about 18 months ago and, in the last month, added one Magneplanar DWM....
cable reviews? For what it is worth, I do not think that I can afford expensive cables so I would say try the lesser cost ones and you might be pleasantly surprised. I tried some Cullen cables and it cleaned up the sound of my system and made it seem more live.W...
Step up from AT150MLX on Technics 1200 Again, a lot of good advice. Thanks.Knowing that this hobby can be expensive to upgrade as was pointed out, and recalling that I liked the sound of the Shure V15 type 4 cartridge in my old rig 30 years ago - I decided I would try the JICO SAS repl...
Step up from AT150MLX on Technics 1200 Hi All,Thanks for the good ideas!I have upgraded the Op amps and capacitors in the JD9 so I am kind of reluctant to part wth it but maybe I should think about it. I still have a Shure V15 Type 4 that I used on a Luxman PD 272 (still have the table...
Tonearm Rewiring Hi Johnnyb53,I have been wondering the same thing myself. Here is a link to some large pictures:http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/how-to-rewire-a-technics-sl-1200-tonearm.148792/My opinion is that the hardest part, which requires a light touch...
Budget Pre with 2outputs, rectifier tube and..... Check out Prima Luna. Tube rectification with separate power transformers.
OPPO 105; how to beat it and at what price? Ditto a Ric Shultz modified Oppo 105. It beat an Esoteric I had for an in house addition.
Need advice on a tube line stage Check out Prima Luna. Separate power supplies for better imaging. As with any tube preamp, the specific tubes will make a difference.
Sell quality turntable to buy top CD player? Think about an Oppo 105 with the Ric Schultz mods as this will get you the detail you need. Then add a tubed preamp. Just another route versus going Modwright. |
