Pink Floyd DSOTM in various versions
I have the Japanese Pro-Use LP and the Harvest CD (first US version -- actually pressed in Japan as US did not have manufacturing facilities back then). The LP smokes everything it has been A/B'd with over the years. Of course I no longer have a tu...
Which warm sounding cd player for under $400?
I liked the NAD 541i but wouldn't call it warm. I sold it and got the Minimax tube CDP ($700).
Eastern Electric Minimax CDP
Build quality clearly favored the Minimax.I never really heard either the Xindak or the Minimax with the stock tubes.Sound wise, I felt that the Minimax and Xindak (with the best tubes inside) were very close, maybe the Minimax had a tad more deta...
Specialty Audio Source New Tube CD Player
You're right, it is the Bada that is going for $579 at NYSound. Good catch.
Specialty Audio Source New Tube CD Player
It resembles the exterior of the Eastern Electric Minimax from the outside (without the variable headphone out). I have no idea what the insides are.
Doors 24-bit remasters.....
How's the quality on these things?
Which is better, Jolida or Cayin?
Very happy with my Cayin TA-30. Something about the circuit boards in the Jolida v. point-to-point wiring in the Cayin were a definite vote in my favor for the Cayin.
Stock Tubes on Cayin TA-30?
Has anyone rolled the Electro-Harmonix 6CA7/EL34 Big Bottles?
Jazz CD suggestions for evening ambience
Johnny Hartman with John Coltrane.
Blue Note RVG Editions remasters, sound better?
Best deals on the RVGs remasters are at cdnow.com. They used to BMG IT hink but are affiliated through Amazon. You can pick these up for $8.49-9.49, and free shipping is $25 or more.I think some folks believe that the discs sold through clubs are ...
C542 vs. C541i
If you are looking for an NAD 541i, go to www.saturdayaudio.com, in Chicago. They have new ones full warranty for $299. I doubt you can beat the price. I bought one a month ago.Now the real question is: is the 542 worth $150-200 more than the 541i...
Greatest rhythm sections
Gotta disqualify the Who w/ Moon even though I love them. Moon couldn't keep a beat unless he a friggin metronome blasting in his headphones. Now if you want to talk most destructive (self and equipment) drummers, he would certainly get my vote.
Questions for Soliloquy fans
I asked Dave Berman at Soliloquy the difference between the 5.0 and the 5.01 and this is what he sent me:First the cabinet is better built, more durable and better looking. It is comprised of 1” thick medite compressed at 11,000lbs per sq. inch, t...
Best monitor against wall
I have the Soliloquy 5.0s and as they are rear ported, I think that you would want a minimum of 1-2 feet of space behind them (Of course I only have 1 foot and am probably giving something in basss response). Any one have any success with these cl...
