Graham Slee GSP Era Gold Mk. V - anyone have it???
How much gain does the unit have (can't find that anywhere)? I'm curious to know if most of you happy owners are using MC cartridges and, if so, are you using a step up? Because the basic unit is a fixed 47k load. The Elevator (which more than dou...
SACD hybrids bad policy from Sony/Columbia?
Does anyone know the relative cost of manufacturing hybrid disks vs. redbook-only disks? That seems to only possible factor in this decsion, which I agree with Ben is mighty odd and quite disappointing.
First Sound Presence Deluxe - Mk. 2 Owners
I've had good luck with the Shunyata Taipan (the original version). When you're ready, try Siemens Gold Pin 7388 tubes, if you can find them. But really, you don't need any of this stuff, especially if you are saying WOW! with the stock unit. It's ...
entry level Discovery or Audience products.....
Discovery has special pricing now on their original IC, a "NOS" discovery in the warehouse. Very low prices, might be of interest to you. I use their Essence in one application and like it very much, and I bought a couple of these NOS specials for...
Pics with ads?
Some people know how to sell and some don't.
Finally Heard some Gryphon gear....
Good story, great reviews, thanks Bombaywalla! Would love to have heard all of that stuff.
Break-in procedure
If half of all records have polarity reversed, as many claim, how can this not be "normal use"?
How to evaluate speakers?
To be a complete simpleton about this, forget about analyzing which does piano better, etc., etc, and focus on which speaker gets you off the most. It's a simple as that. Which is the one that causes you to want to stay up all night pulling out re...
Break-in procedure
What difference would it make to work one speaker in the "normal" manner and one reversed during a break in? Range of motion is the same, and the speakers will see reversed polarity source material all the time anyway. If it's really a concern, re...
1st sound vs. placette?
I owned both the FS and the Placette Active at the same time for about two years. Finally I sold the Placette, but it could have gone the other way. They are both terrific and I loved them both. Currently, the FS is duking it out with a Klyne. The...
Break-in procedure
Your pre-amp inverts polarity, not phase. You don't need to consider that, just connect one of the speakers out of phase. Presumably you are putting the speakers face-to-face and running them out of phase in order to cancel out as much of the soun...
Buggtussel Speakers - heard 'em?
Gonna be a whole lot of Big Iron amps re-purposed into boat anchors in the next few years. Well, perhaps.
Buggtussel Speakers - heard 'em?
I heard them at CES and liked them very much, but they seemed a little bright to me (maybe more than a little). Did you notice that Tomryan? Could have been other factors at fault.
Good Phono Pre-Amps...$500 to $1500
How much is it if he builds it?
OK...I'm getting ready to buy a new Phono pre amp.
The Rhea's flexibility is mighty appealing. When they start showing up used, I may take a look. In the meantime, Rwd, can I buy your ARC?
