J.Rowland Is it possible to shut off the display Tony, how do you do that on the Concentra? Also, don't you have balance control on the Concentra?Part of the problem may be that JRDG never deigned to publish a manual for the Concerto.
J.Rowland Is it possible to shut off the display No, you can neither shut off the display nor dim it, as far as I know. As for the balance control, there is none. They are using the remote from a different (earlier) product, one that did offer a balance control.
Speltz Anti Cables At a minimum, I would use grocery store twists or ties or something to keep them very close together. When I first tried them, they were completely loose and spaced however they naturally fell on the ground, and they sounded terrible.
DACs with FIREWIRE? Don't most hard drives have USB as well? Don't think I've seen a DAC with FW.
Thiel CS 2.4 Vs. Harbeth M40? I have owned the 2.4 and now use the Harbeth Super HL5. I have not heard the Monitor 40 but know that it shares the same Harbeth family sound while delivering a lot more bottom end and having a better tweeter. My understanding is that the Monitor ...
HD AND NON HD TELECAST DVDs look great on my plasma. SD television may look better on other technologies, but this has proved to be a non-issue in my household. We love our plasma and, frankly, I'm surprised that most audiophiles don't prefer plasma (or maybe they do).
Request to hear Zu speakers I may have to make a road trip to SoCal. I wonder if Zu speakeers will be at the LA HE Show.

Maybe it's good, for what it is.When Steve Jobs was heading the original Macintosh development effort, he installed...
Any info on the fun, new Apple product 28/2/06 Looks like they think Bose is making too much money. I wonder who they partnered with on this, or if they did it themselves.http://www.apple.com/ipodhifi/
Request to hear Zu speakers And I'd like to hear them in the SF Bay Area. (Sorry Joe, don't want to hijack your thread.)
REL is dead. Long live REL You are correct, that could happen. Look at Marantz, for example (though there has been some improvement in the past few years). So this is where the integrity and goals of Sumiko come into play.
Unbalanced to balanced adaptor Did you ever resolve this, Jayboard? My impression is that it's not like converting unblanced to balanced interconnects because you are taking one standard (S/PDIF, here implemented as coax but it can also be done as Toslink) and converting it to ...
The Clever Little Sharp Just like we all think we're superior judges of character (and in our judgment, other people just are not as reasonable as we are)Similarly, not sure I've ever met anyone who thinks they don't have a great sense of humor, are not a good driver, or...
any Sopranophiles here? I wouldn't think of missing it.
REL is dead. Long live REL a sad reflection of our society (where "brand recognition" has become more important than substance)What a strange, naive comment. Do you imagine yourself "immune" to brands? Think about the investment Sumiko has made in building the REL brand in... |
