Most compatable amp for ACI Sapphire III
Anthem makes some very nice sounding tube gear for the money. Do a search for Anthem on Audiogon and read the reviews at the manufacturer's web site, www.sonicfrontiers.com. The Integrated 1 is in your price range, but is a little underpowered at ...
New to Vinyl and need immediate help
I would vote for starting with a Lehmann black cube, hook everything up and then decide on the tube gear. The Modulus can sound a bit bright; be aware that on the used market the 3A has been around for years with several upgrades. Rogue makes some...
"Warm" CD player...on a budget.
I bought a Cambridge Audio CD 500 for an old friend last Christmas. Also gave him an Anthem Pre1/Amp set-up with NOS tubes. We hooked that to a pair of Solililoquy 5.0 speakers. I hadn't heard the system until just now as he lives on the opposite ...
I GIVE UP
Another alternative is a BAT, classe or Pass solid state.
Superior sound from newer CD players?
The Cambridge Audio CD player is worth trying for the money. Needs a day or so break in. Worth trying from audio advisor, as I believe they have a guarantee.
Tone wood
Check out www.northcreekmusic.com. They have a manual on cabinet design and materials that's highly regarded.

This is the one from Zalytron to consider:Trym. The Trym is a 2 way, 2 driver loudspeaker kit utilizing the latest driver technology from the SEAS Excel product line. This kit uses a single W22EX001 22cm woofer and a T 25 CF OO2 "MILLENNIUM" tweet...

Consider the Silverline sonatina...Available used for 1200-1500.
How does BAT VK-60 do in Low-end frequency?
I'm using the vk-60's in monoblock configuration. Compared to the vk-500 which they replaced, there is definitely less bass and less solid "grasp" of the speakers. The midrange is what the vk-60's are all about. Also replace my vk5i with the vk5se...
Best Integrated 50wpc under 600 used
Cambridge Audio makes good stuff--better than NAD. A sleeper brand, but prices for their stuff are reasonable. Try www.spearitsound.com for more info (no association).
Stereophile Class A
The Rogue 88 (tubes) is excellent for the money. Can be purchased for under $1000. Can be updated later to Magnum series. Look at an Anthem Pre1L for about $400. Tubes and a great deal at the used price. If you want to keep the cost down look at C...
Sonic Frontiers Line 2SE
A better upgrade would be going to a different amp-such as the Rogue 88. I replaced my amp 1 and it made a huge difference in the sound. The difference in cost with the 2se wouldn't make up for the dificiency in the amp1, a nice amp but not in the...
Tube fakes, any experts out there?
Try posting some details on www.audioasylum.com under "tube asylum." Usually some experts there....

Did the silver lace kit. It was a bit difficult to pick out the +/- strands. You need a Radio Shack multimeter to match them up. Otherwise basic soldering skills and a little finesse are all that are needed. For your other question, do a search of...
