Colapse to Hegel
curlyhifi, would you kindly expand on your comment that "The K300i sounds a little better than the Vanguard"? I have the digital Vanguard now and am considering "upgrading" to the K300i. I wonder if it's enough "better" to justify the cost. For th...
Parasound's Hint 6's new volume control provides huge sonic advances?
For me, the real improvement in the volume control in the Hint 6 (and the companion P6 preamp) is the numeric readout in the display. I can't stand preamps or integrateds with no readout, those which use a little light dot on the dial to indicate ...
Audioquest Niagara 1200
It definitely won't "hurt" the preamp. There is simply less filtering on the high current outlets so that they can deliver more current. I actually prefer those outlets over the others.
Powerquest 3 vs. Niagara 1200
I compared the PowerQuest 2 to the Niagara 1200, which is not quite what you're looking for, but close. I can't image the PQ3 sounding different or better than the 2, it just offers more plugs. So this comparison should be pretty close to what you...
... WHAT POWER CORD(S) ARE PLAYING IN YOU SYSTEM TODAY?
I use Straight Wire Black Thunder II on all components (SACD player, Krell integrated amp and power conditioner). Try as I might, I simply have not found anything thus far that sounds better, on both music and movies. Every other power cord I've t...
... WHAT POWER CORD(S) ARE PLAYING IN YOU SYSTEM TODAY?
hifihandyman , you list StraightWire Thunder. Straight Wire has 3 different "thunder" power cords: the Pro Thunder, the Black Thunder II and the Blue Thunder. Which are you using?
AudioQuest Niagara 1000
I will be curious to hear your results. I would be willing to bet a power cord better than their entry-level NRG series would restore your soundstage and a more life-like presence.
AudioQuest Niagara 1000
pgaulke60, interesting stories. I would think the Niagara 1200 would do essentially the same thing as the noise harvester, if it indeed filters and "conditions" the AC power as it claims it does. That being said, I'm curious if you changed power c...
AudioQuest Niagara 1000
The comparison is made very clearly on the AudioQuest website.
AudioQuest Niagara 1000
I tried one of their new budget PowerQuests, which just came out earlier this year, and it had a major defect (a deep cut in the power cord) so I sent it back. I wonder if quality control issues with those budget products has prompted AudioQuest t...
Krell XD gear in the House Initial Impressions
Whatever the technology involved in Krell's new integrated, I must say it was the best sound I heard at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest (used with the very inexpensive Anti-Cables no less!). I sure hope this really is Krell making a comeback. I've b...
Krell XD gear in the House Initial Impressions
As to the issue of whether or not Krell is "rebranding", I can relate that at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest last October, I visited the Krell room often because it sounded so good. And every time I did, CEO Walter Schofield was telling everyone, and I...
Cardas Clear Light vs Clear Sky
If anyone is following this thread, I have learned a few answers that I'll share. Cardas replaced Clear Light - not with Sky, as I wrongly assumed, but with Clear Cygnus. Cygnus is similar to Light but with some added richness and better bass, and...
Krell Digital Vanguard or Parasound Halo integrated?
I too considered these 2 integrateds a year ago and decided on the Krell Vanguard Digital. I had not heard either unit but I was still using the original Krell KAV 300i integrated, which is still going strong after 20 years of service (!) and I mo...
