The Aesthetix Calypso meets your criteria, I think; I've seen them in the range $3-3500 used on Audiogon,David
Can anyone suggest a good 2-channel amp for $1500
since no one has mentioned Plinius, let me suggest that a used Plinius 8100 (or 8200 with 175 watts)would be worth considering (there is an 8100 integrated on Audiogon for $800, and you also get a very decent preamp and I think phono). But I'm afr...
Quick Q to Plinius 102 owners.
I don't have the 102 but I'm pretty sure the left switch is mute, and right shifts between class A and class AB (not sure which is up/down). You can download the manual at www.pliniusaudio.com, or just see which gets hottest/sounds best.David

Plinius - experiences/opinions
I use a 9200 with Shahinian Obelisks. It has noticeably tighter bass than the 8200 Mk1 I had before--but both are very nice.David
Best intergrated amp for under $2000

Many excellent suggestions above (especially Solti). Also:1963 Karajan on DG (sounds very good on vinyl, still one of the greats). For modern recordings, Mackerras, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Classics for Pleasure. Great recording, excellent sou...
ATTN: Plinius 8100, 8200, 9100, 9200 Owners
I use a Marantz SA-14, with Shahinian Obelisks, which I'm very happy with--I found Rollerblocks make a big difference, as well.Good luck!David
What are the best speakers for Mahler?
John Marks (Stereophile) says Shainian Obelisks are the "cheapest" speakers that can reproduce classical music with serious bass (e.g. Mahler 6). I have them, and they do--but they need a high current amp (Plinius is his recommendation). There is ...
