HD FM tuners Good points made by Stonedeaf. Try having your Sony upgraded by Mike at Radio X Tuners, while we wait for Sony to come out with an optical out.
Magnepan for a small room I have MMG's in a 12x12x9 room, with good results. The speakers are 3' from the back wall, which puts them 7' from my listening position.I have a REL T-2 to augment the bottom end. I think 10x10 will be too tight. My alternative speakers would be ...
HD FM tuners I have the Sony modified by Radio X Tuners. The mods improve the sound quite a bit. I also use the FM Reflect with it. HD allows me to receive our classical station on my downstairs system. This station recently moved to a lower power transmitter ...
Harbeth Compact 7ES-3 for music / HT use...? Add a REL subwoofer and you'll be in business.
Which New Preamp To Get ? Maybe you don't need a preamp at all. Check out Sam's Space in the Feb. Stereophile.
Magnepan Placement Agree with all the above, including experimenting with tweeter in/tweeter out, air to the sides and back, and the need for toe in. Adding power will be the single best upgrade you can do. Also, consider stands that will couple the speaker to the fl...
What is the most analog sounding CD player under $ PrimaLuna Prologue 8 with upgraded circuit
NAD 320bee By adding a power amp, you would be using the NAD as a preamp. You would then have the power of the the added amp only, as the NAD power amp section of your intergrated would be bypassed.
What amp would you suggest for Magnepan MG12s The new NAD amp at $1200 might be a very good choice (See Sam Tellig's Oct column in Stereophile). If you want tubes, I am currently using a H H Scott 222c with Musical Fidelity 550K Superchargers. You should be able to do this used for under $2500.
Amplifier for Klipsch Cornwalls a good place to start is a H H Scott, EL 84 based intergrated amp. A nice 222B, or 299B will do a great job with Cornwalls, and shouldn't cost over $500.
Magnepan, How Low Can You Go...power-wise In terms of bang for the buck, the $1200 NAD intergrated reviewed by Sam Tellig in Oct Stereophile seems hard to beat, and should do a very nice job with your 3,6's.
bose acoustimass 10 I have an Acustamas 10 in a small sun room that is a challenge for surround sound in many ways (long and narrow, 4 sets of triple windows and outside walls). They do create surround effects and make movies more entertaining. The bass module is wel...
Looking for suggestions... NAD- See Sam Teiig's column last month in Stereophile. Less expensive model may also suite your needs.
Magnepan, How Low Can You Go...power-wise I drove Maggies with a 50 wpc NAD and the sound was quite nice. You will have very good sound, but Maggies get better as you add power. Musical Fidelity Superchargers can be added later if more power is needed. They will wake up Maggies!
Lost that "Tube Magic". Can you help? The "magic" is in the EL84 tubes. The bigger tubes don't sound the same. I have a Mapleshade moddified Scott. Some of the mods clean up the bottom and top end issues you refered to.The Musical Fidelity A-1 is being discounted toi $999. It has a tu... |
