Is there an alternate to Martin Logans? Magnequest, do you realize this thread is more than 4 years old with no one except us responding in the interim? I doubt the original poster really cares at this point. But I do agree the MMGs are nice sounding.
What's the "worst" cdp for the money? Elizabeth, how do you find the time to listen to your CDP for 100,000 hours? 100,000 hours for a CDP is great in my book. My last Sony lasted 40 hours before it started to develop problems. Amusing reading, your post:)
Bladelius Freja versus Marantz SA11 A dealer network is being established as we speak. It retails for $3000.
Hyperion HPS 938 vs Thiel cs2.4 Ctchen, I have heard the 1.6s as well. I know what you mean by the tight bass and sparkling hights with sharp imaging. That was my first impression. But the longer I listened to it, more fatigue set in. It is very nice on superbly well recorded CD...
Warmest solid-state integrated for under $2k Jungon 88D. By far the warmest, smoothest integrated SS amp I have heard.
Hyperion HPS 938 vs Thiel cs2.4 Ctchen, I know you have the 938s, and I think it would be a mistake switch to the Thiels. I have heard the CS2.4. I have heard almost every Thiel model starting from the late 80's. Although the 2.4s are very clean sounding speakers, I found it to ...
Best caps for speaker crossover? Again, thanks all you guys for your input. Rauligruegas, have people tried the V-cap oil impregnated series for XO?
Best caps for speaker crossover? Breginato, I started this thread because I had a specific question. Now you're on my thread with a question that belongs on a different thread. I don't mean any offence. I would appreciate it if you start your own thread so my thread doesn't go of...
Best caps for speaker crossover? Jeffreybehr, I have not had a chance to look at the caps yet. I will post the values in the future.
Best caps for speaker crossover? Rauliguegas, the V-caps now come in two flavors, Teflon and Oil-film(?). Which would be better for speaker applications? By the way, I've always thought about using Alpha-Core inductors. Any thoughts on what type of wire to use inside the speaker ...
Just ordered the Jungson 88D Luxury Edition. In general, class A amps will sound smoother, more refined, more natural than their class AB counterparts. I would advise against getting a class AB amp for highly efficient horn speakers, unless it has been shown to mate well with horns.
Best caps for speaker crossover? Nickt, what do you like about the Hovlands? Have you compared it to any of the others I mentioned? Thanks.
Just ordered the Jungson 88D Luxury Edition. Speedball, another consideration is the noise floor of the amp. Although the Jungson is dead quiet hooked to my speaker with 90 dB efficiency, it may not be hooked up to a speaker with 102 dB. The BFS reviewer states, although the Jungson is quiet...
Just ordered the Jungson 88D Luxury Edition. I agree with Maxx. It's one of the more cooler running class A amps. Nothing like the Krell integrated on which you can fry an egg. My room is 15'x12'x8' and it doesn't warm up the room like my last 30 watt tube integrated. Basically it warms up a...
Just ordered the Jungson 88D Luxury Edition. Agisthos, the Jungsons are not slow in the bass at least compared to live music. It doesn't throw bass at you like many SS amps. The bass is naturally integrated with rest of the spectrum.Kck, for the money, it's hard to beat the Signal Cable powe... |
