Ortofon/Dynavector ? cartridge characteristics Oh thank you so much. I will try the 8-ohm tap and then maybe some cable loaners from The Cable Company - and definitely will call Peter. I've heard conflicting input about the Dyna XV-1 - that it's too heavy for the TriPlanar and gets ragged on t...
Ortofon/Dynavector ? cartridge characteristics Spkr cables are Transparent Reference out of the 4-ohm tap to the Wilson Sophia 3's. These new speakers do handle bass much better than the prior Watt Puppy 5's which had a murderous mid-bass hump. Thanks for your lead on the SoundSmith.
Ortofon/Dynavector ? cartridge characteristics Well taken - the Shindo Giscours phono stage measures .2mV input. Arm is TriPlanar which handles my current cartridge mass of 11 grams pretty well. I want to avoid any external SUT with all its required accessories. The amp is a VAC with 8 300B's,...
Ortofon/Dynavector ? cartridge characteristics Shindo Giscours is the phono stage. TriPlanar arm and VAC Ren 70/70 amp. The Shindo made me re-think my analog front end, and so cartridge matching is important to me, especially bass control. Suggestions ?
Ortofon/Dynavector ? cartridge characteristics My phono stage is the Shindo Giscours, which made me re-think my whole analog front end. (And also begin trying to buy back all the LP's I foolishly sold off, believing that CD's were the Second Coming.) Arm is the TriPlanar, and amp is the VAC Re...
Cartridge rookie here looking for experience Thanks - I was not even aware I could 'test drive' it first.
Masseto break-in time thanks for your cartridge recommendation; I noticed in the dagogo review an email address for Shindo - sounds promising already. See my thread about my Wheaton Tri-Planar arm for the problem with it since day one. So I must ask what is the name of...
Debuzzing a Wheaton TriPlanar problem Yes, Lewm, the hum disappears when I grasp the covered portion of the tube. Sometimes the hum is amplified when I grasp the finger rest at the cartridge end; release the grasp, and no hum. This has been a problem since day one of installation, and...
Masseto break-in time Oh, absolutely from turn-on ! The Masseto is a musical instrument itself. I use the VAC Renaissance 70/70 and a cartridge original with the TriPlanar, vintage 1996 - an AudioQuest 7000. I'm looking for a new cartridge which will shake hands well w...
Debuzzing a Wheaton TriPlanar problem Now this is making more sense to me, and I thank you. The TT is 6 inches from the wall which conceals all the electrical lines from the apartment's circuit breaker. And I must ask what is 'screened tonearm wire' ? I want to try this fix before rel...
Debuzzing a Wheaton TriPlanar problem ok - another piece of evidence to add, and this may be the most telling. When I grasp the finger rest at the end of the tube, the hum gets really loud. Just squeezing the tube itself ever so lightly stops the noise. And this part baffles me - all ...
Masseto break-in time That's about when the Sophia 3's will completely open up - maybe I can plan it for Christmas Day. Already, the detail it captures from even non-audiophile LP's is jaw-dropping.
Masseto break-in time ha ha ha, very funny. BTW - ya know anyone who might need their dCS Scarlatti broken in ?
Debuzzing a Wheaton TriPlanar problem Thanks for your considered response. My former career was as systems software developer, and I appreciate your debugging skills. Occasionally (of course) there is feedback while the stylus is tracking the groove. My gut reaction suspects some sort...
Has anyone yet heard the Wilson Sophia 3 ? Mine are almost broken in - and with a VAC amp are amazing - a quantum leap beyond my former WP 5's. If you like, email me with your reactions to them as yours break in also. |
