My Remote on my preamp has stopped working
Good excuse to get a new pre! 😁
Is there anything other than a Benchmark DAC?
Try a Denafrips or Chord in your price range. Soundstage and smoothness increase over the DAC3. I love the DAC3 too but I see it as a neutral science instrument and not a flavor enhancer.  Sometimes when I eat, I want MSG and not a test tube.. 😁
Rogue Dragon Tube Recommendations
Contact Nick @ Rogue as someone already suggested. They had RCA clear tops for my RP-5 pre and recommended those for their lusher midrange. Not sure if the same applies to the Dragon. I'd be curious to know the findings. I'm going to try a Dragon...
Full loom of the same cable brand vs mixing and matching.
For type A neurotics with OCD tendencies, I recommend a mix-n-match until the compliment starts to seriously impact sleep and stress levels. For the religious and superstitious, a heavy dose of experimentation amongst brands will often yield the w...
An ANSWER....of sorts......
Gunga galunga. The funny Llama (at the farm) told me if you believe it sounds better, it will sound better.
Does Every Track Sound Great on Your System?
In response to your question, I read many mentions of EQ and a handful of room and setup questions..I don't recall anyone mentioning something like a UMIK-1 measuring mic and REW. Once you're comfortable measuring and analyzing the results, I thi...
Record player sounds out of tune and "wavy"
$499 for a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo and in my experience sound superior to many of the budget tables for a few hundred more. They give you a $100 cartridge with the table, and it sounds great out of the box. I bought one for a friend and couldn't...
Preamplifier sound Quality impact in home theatre bypass
It depends on the tube pre and the path the signal is taking for HT Bypass.  In many of the designs I've seen, the HT Bypass is the equivalent of putting an RCA female to female adapter between two RCA pairs. Wouldn't bother me unless you noticed...
Audiophilism is a hobby
The gear The room The recording In my estimation, that's the trinity. . When all three points converge
REAL MUSIC VS. SHOW MUSIC PERFORMANCE AT AUDIO SHOWS. PRESENTATION V. PERFORMANCE? WHY?
Someone already eluded to the "known standards" and I believe that's a big part of it. A known reference point is boring to hear time and again, but it does offer a consistent standard to evaluate with.  The risk to manufacturers is to let someon...
if you had this system, what would you do to make it sound the best you can
If it were my system, add a stereo pair of subs. Something small and fast like REL T7/x or T9/x depending on size of room. Spend the time learning about positioning and dialing them in properly.

How would you spend my next $5K?
+1 for second sub. I'm a dual sub convert. Tap the high level with those REL and run a true LR sub just outside your mains. I got a lot of extra soundstage width and the bass response was improved.
Giving Advice without recommending your own equipment
Your observations are accurate. You are asking advice from owners. It's unlikely they would miss the opportunity to demonstrate their excellent choices in gear. Instead of seeking impartial advice in this forum, do your own research and supplement...
Dog pissed on speaker
Anyone else wondering what Klipsch horns sound like to a dog?
