One dedicated circuit for each mono block?
@immatthewj Is there a good chance there is some knob & spool going on here ...highly doubtful if you say your house was built in the 60’s. Most times the ground was the conduit or metal clad cable running between the fuse box and outlets...
One dedicated circuit for each mono block?
@yesiam_a_pirate  One dedicated breaker, #10x4 line, one leg to a dedicated 9’ copper earth ground stake and the other end to the amp chassis.  Hopefully that dedicated 9' copper earth ground stake is tied to the other load center ground rod(s...
Heat sinking op-amps - any audio improvements?
@erik_squires  If you are going to add heat sinks, the voltage regulators are a great place to start. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. @imhififan  Thanks for the article!
Heat sinking op-amps - any audio improvements?
@imhififan  Why not? It's an inexpensive tweak and can easily reverted. Most definitely. I didn't reply, because I had already decided in my mind that I was going to do a little experimenting anyways. IMO, it's the perfect winter project. I ha...
Isolated ground versus self ground outlet
@mitch2 So, if you use plastic outlet boxes and dedicated lines with hot/neutral/ground wires, you have in effect isolated your ground regardless of the outlet used, correct? ...yes, as long as you use Romex or NM (non-metallic) sheathed elec...

I know nothing about Lear Jets You mentioned 8-tracks, and I believe William Lear and Learjet Corp. designed the 8-track tape.   I was wanting to avoid spending money on a cable that was not needed.  In this hobby, we audio-enthusiasts try ...

The AES/EBU port on back looks like an XLR, but is a single port, not L & R. If you're going to use the AES/EBU XLR connection, make sure the cable is rated for AES/EBU service, and is a 110 ohm cable.
Powered speakers show audiophiles are confused
vibration dampening systems Vibration dampening systems. Now I understand. Someday the powered speaker will be be the audiophile speakers of the future as they are now in concert systems I’m not sure I’d bet my money on that. The home audio...
Powered speakers show audiophiles are confused
vibration systems Wow, that's a new one on me. It sounds like a term coined from the 1930's.

@gregchick0 are optical outputs of my 6006 CD player better to use to my preamp than the RCA, or are the Coaxial ports better to send to the preamp? Not meaning to be rude, but why not join the club, and try each, and let your ears determine ...

I need an Audio Detective
So it's confirmed the DAC is emitting RFI garbage. I wonder if that RFI is permeating any other audio gear (besides the tuners) when it's ON, to the point it's having an effect on noise floors.
