Conrad Johnson 350 vs Pass Labs X amp
Do you have long interconnects?. I tried a pass 350 with my prem 16 earlier in the year with poor results. Slow rather ponderous sound. Could have been that my prem8a's were a lot better, but I think the cj pre amp may have been having trouble dri...
Outer Ring for VPI scout Without spending $$$$
I would suggest that VPI would make the best and cheapest outer ring for VPI's. I know Clearaudio make an outer ring, but that is a lot more expensive and it may not fit the VPI.I think you are going to be plain out of luck with your price expecta...
Koetsu Jade platinum V Dynavector XV-1s ?
Audio999. I had a Te-Kaitora before I bought the XV-1. No comparison, the XV-1 was in a different league. XV-1 has similar bottom end but a lot clearer, transparent, naturally dynamic and plain easier to listen to from top to bottom.I still have t...

Gary, It was the Jade review by Roy Gregory in hifi+ that prompted me to ask the question.Paul, thanks for the advise.I am going with my gut feel am upgrading to the XV-1s. My local dealer has come up with a price that is quite good. I luv the XV-...
Audio Research PH5 phono preamp?
I think you are mistaken. You are talking about issue 34 where 4 phono stages are compared and the PHD comes up trumps. The PH5 is reviewed in issue 35 and as I said above Jimmy Hughes compares it to the PHD and likes the PHD better.Shane
Audio Research PH5 phono preamp?
checkout the current hifi+ and their is a review on it. The reviewer liked the Sutherland PHD better.
ATC SCM 100/150 pro vs. non-pro differences
You are correct. The onloy difference is the woodden enclosure. There is also a light on the pro models indicating if the mid and treble units are being driven too hard.cheers
Review of the VPI TNT HR-X in TAS....
Try this to replace / fix your valves. Mike from VPI told me this and it works quite easily. You need to go to an auto spares shop and buy a pack of tyre valve cores - short size to fit standard tyre valves. You also need to buy a tool ( like a min...
Review of the VPI TNT HR-X in TAS....
I have owned the HR-X for just on 12 mnths now and it sounds great. Realistically you do need to once a month re-inflate some air bladders so they are all back to the same pressure. As Jameswei states does not take that long and is almost fun:). J...
Comparing sound of Tenor 150 HPs vs. Lamm M1.2
Thom. Which Karma ceramique speakers are you going to buy?.Do the Karma's rock enought to keep up with the alternative music you and I mainly listen to.Have you bought the new Mark Lanegan or Interpol LP's - both are great!I may have to listen to ...
Solid stylus cleaners: Extreme Phono vs. Onzow Zer
thanks for reminding me Chipman. I am going to look for my old AT stylus cleaner and put some new batteries in it and see if it still works
Wilson WP7 vs JM Lab Alto BE vs Avalon Eidolon
Dkarmeli. I am not really that interested in going back to a tubed phono stage. I owned and enjoyed a cj prem 15 for 4 years and auditioned an Aesthetix Rhea and Xono. In my system the Xono was a lot quieter than both the tubed units and musically...
Wilson WP7 vs JM Lab Alto BE vs Avalon Eidolon
Well I have had a listen to each of the speakers trying to justify the huge cost increase over the mahlers. Can't really comment on the Avalon Diamond as I only heard it quickly in the store and it sounded a little reserved and laid back to me.The ...
Wilson X-1 series 1 vs Watt/Puppy 7
I checked this with Wilson and they said"The X-1 Series 1 is a design that dates back to the early 90's (1993-1994). With huge improvements having been made since the introduction of the X-1, my first inclination is to recommend the WATT/Puppy 7 f...
Dynavector PHA-200 Head Amp.
Oanhu. I have the cj-16 and if you are having to go all the way up to 75 for reasonable sound, the Lamm must have very low output and/or your speakers not very efficient. Normally if I have 75 on the vol control the sound is well and truely pumpim...
