In the latest The Absolute Sound AlbertThere is something wrong with the cleaning fuild or the VPI RCM??My nitty gritty used with the pure 2 I think actually removes all static and debris from my records.
mcintosh 275 ver4 vs 2102 I own 2xMC2102's and they sound wonderful. 1xMC2102 just sounded nice, however the sound was transformed with the 2nd unit. I use them in parallel and they have plenty of grunt and control, coupled with nice tube warmth. One guy I know who has hear...
C-J PREMIER 17 LS SERIE 2 VS 16 LS SERIE 2 RoccI'm with Tim here, If you want to keep the sweetness of the prem17 and gain dynamics and musicality, the prem 16 is the way to go.the CT5 and ACT2 go a bit too far to neutrality for MY tastes but I would go back to a prem 16 any day.You may no...

new "heavy platter" for VPI HR-X? Not sure, it is heavy thou. see attached link http://www.elusivedisc.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HW-A1218 PRAT is an old LInn term, pace, rhythm and timing.
new "heavy platter" for VPI HR-X? I don't think it adds deeper bass. Who said that? It does however slightly change the tone down in the bass and it gives it some weight and prat in the bass that the HRX does not have.To me it sounds a better and looks very COOL
Analogue Synergy....Which is the best Cartridge? personally I would buy a denon 103R if your tonearm is suitable - I believe it is - any fellow gon's please chime in.I have the GCPH and denon 103R and they sound wonderful together. the denon is more musical and enjoyable than my clearaudio conce...
Best Conrad Johnson pre tube? probably not. I would bet that the older top of the line cj pre's would sound a little better. Then again I did not think the prem 17 was that good.IMO, go for a s/h prem16. Now that is a SOTA pre amp and a lot more dynamic and musical than the 17.
Cary slp 98 vs CJ 16 or 17 preamp I have owned the cj prem 16 and upgraded it to series 2. then sold it - to go to VTL 7.5 - mistake. I never like the prem 17, just seemed to have no life in the thing. I find the prem 16 musically more enjoyable than the ACT2/CT5.I have own the ca...
new "heavy platter" for VPI HR-X? I finally got the super platter and its looks great and sounds just as good.I won;t miss the white platter. The new platter is VERY heavy, even heavier than the old TNT platters.Goes straight onto the inverted bearing and works perfectly.Only earl...
new "heavy platter" for VPI HR-X? I have one on order - waiting for it to come in. here is what harry said about the platter when I asked him."The new super platter gives more fullness and power in the lower registers but maintains the level of detail the old platter had. We chan...
BAT VK-51 SE or McIntosh C200? Audiocircle. I replaced my VTL 7.5 with the cary slp-98P. the cary was so much more musical and I do not miss the VTL 7.5 at all. the gain issue on the 7.5 was a royal pain in the ass using any amp that had higher than 26db gain.the vtl 7.5 remote...
ARC PH5 or K&K Audio Phono Stage The PH5 is a good sounding phono stage. For less money and in the same league is the PS audio GCPH phono stage. If ytou live in the US, try it for 30 days - what have you got to lose. personally I like the PS audio better, it has a lower noise flo... |
