Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously?
Does it really matter.  All our tables in 20 years will be worthless as nobody will be buying any physical media or players.Streaming will rule world.Lets enjoy our tables while we are still alive and kicking
what happened to the post on the sat tonearm?
Unfortunately Raul seems to think that insulting people personally is Ok.  Myles quite rightly had the thread closed.  Now, Raul, if you can document the issues you see with the SAT tonearm without personal insults, I believe we have some real thi...

Btw the SAT tonearm is now discontinued and will be replaced with two new models . One of them is a 12 inch. You would be so happy your 30k tonearm is obsolete in only a few years

SP-10 Mat
I just noticed you placed the mat upside down, mate Why? @chakster Is the cu180 mat really supposed to be with the slight rounded circumference side up, rather than down?it fits and couples with the platter perfectly either way. I have flipped i...

Lyra Delos A truth teller or what?
It really depends. Lyra cartridges certainly are truth tellers. Great recordings will sound great, bad invariably will sound bad unless the rest of your system is appropriately voiced and full range. If your system is slightly lean or you use smal...

@lewm I have also seen your blanket statement that all vintage DD’s need to have all electrolytic capacitors replaced. I have asked my tech (same as Halcro’s) a couple of times and he has stated - NO. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it unless its a k...
Upcoming Technics SP-10R (100th Anniversary Model)
@lewm    @audiofun Are our SP10 mks about to become obsolete? :-)) smiley
Lyra Etna SL vs. Transfiguration Proteus + Koetsu Urushi
Nice choice with the Lyra Etna SL - you will be hard pressed not to really like or love it - make sure you do give it at least 50 hours of play. Depending on the cost, I would look at getting a rebuild of your MSL to have as alternative. You can t...

Lewm.  You are lucky you are so close.   I am at the other end of the world :-)
Technics SP10 MK3 bearing and lubrication
Yes, I have seen that awesome thread, by the one and only JP Jones.  I like Lewm will get JP's chip as soon as he can make some more, especially since my original failed.  JP, you reading this - I will contact you early in the new year to check o...
