What cable companies make the best cables and sell them directly?
With the quality of gear you have, you're definitely going to benefit from high quality cables.  Blue Jeans are a very good value but not anything you'd want to to match up with the extremely high quality amp and preamp you have. Try to get a bun...
Point of diminishing returns for a Network Streamers?
If you want to learn a lot about digital audio, watch the Hans Beekhuyzen Channel on YouTube.   He was a recording engineer for most of his career and explains all things digital in a way everyone can understand.
What are we objectivists missing?
It’s simple.  There are far too many variables in audio for anyone else to tell you what a change will do in your system. Only buy from sellers who let you return the cable or the tweak if it doesn’t improve the SQ in your system.  Give it time t...
Point of diminishing returns for a Network Streamers?
I went from streaming Tidal on an iPad to an Innuos Zen MkIII with Roon.   it was like going from a $100 MM cartridge to a $2000 MC cartridge.
My last Integrated Amp: $5-10,000?
I've had three Gryphons.  You can't go wrong with them.
Looking for wider soundstage
You need to be systematic with moving the speakers around or you’ll drive yourself crazy. Go to YouTube and search on New Record Day LOTS.  He walks you through a method that’s simple and works.  Then you can tweak with room treatment and cables....
Best streamer for a returning audio guy
IMO, the Orchard Pecan Pi offers much better SQ than the Bluesound, plus it can be a Roon endpoint.  Less $ last time I looked.
How accurate are cable descriptions for your system?
The only worthwhile piece of advice anyone can give you is only buy returnable cables.  Try them out and compare. There are far too many variables in audio to say anything with certainty with regard to someone else’s system. In my experience, th...
Disadvantages of buying old solid state.
+1 on Schiit equipment. Balanced interconnects are the best because of noise rejection, but unless you have very long runs or your wires are a tangled mess behind your rack, you probably won't be able to detect the difference.
10k Towers with biggest soundstage?
I agree with Danager.  I have the GR-Research NX-Oticas, one step down from the NX-Tremes  and the soundstage is 10 feet deep behind the speakers and at least 3’ beyond the outside edges of the speakers.   These are open baffle speakers so somew...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
True, mono would get rid of that very strange decision to put Jimi’s voice in only one channel on the first cut on each side.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Just got the Acoustic Sounds remake of Jimi Hendrix "Are You Experienced."  Totally remastered on premium vinyl.  Better than Qobuz version. Listening on my Well-Tempered Reference TT.  Extremely quiet background.  No obvious pops or clicks.
How much $$ do bells and whistles add to preamp?
The Schiit Freya + has no bells or whistles and gives you huge flexibility - passive, active SS or active tube.  And it's under $1k, yet very well reviewed. The tube option lets you listen to some edgy recordings that are otherwise hard to listen...
Looking for an integrated amp to replace my Cayin A-50T
For under $2k you could get a pair of Schiit Aegir monoblocks (you have to run balanced cables from your Oppo.) Tremendous value for the money. Class A most of the time, 80 wpc.  Very smooth yet revealing.
replacement for MOFI beatles box set
If you’re looking for SQ and excellent re-engineering, check out the Beatles Love 2 LP set.  I find it much more interesting and better SQ than the originals.  I got mine new for $50.  Only Abbey Road interests me among the originals.
