Bel Canto ref 500m vs NuForce 9se v3
The Bel Canto REF500Ms use the third gen ICE modules. I use one for my centre channel vs the REF1000Ms for my main L/R speakers. It does sound less lean than the REF1000Ms. I'd choose the REF500Ms over the REF1000Ms unless I really needed the head...
CD player to compete with my vinyl rig?
I've found that my Project RPM10.1 with the Sumiko Blackbird outperformed even my EMM Labs XDS1. I'm not sure if you'l be able to find a CDP that competes with yr table unless you are willing to get to quite stratospheric prices. If your budget ext...
Oppo BDP-95 Versus Bel Canto DAC 3.5
To be honest, I never found the Oppo to be a world class transport the way the CDPro2M is on the Ayon CD5S or Bel Canto CD2. But it is very versatile and able to read just about any disc, so in a pinch I do use it to read my DVDA discs so I can se...
Jelco 750D and Denon Cartridge Compatability?
750D with DL103R. Works great. Reminded me of my old SME 3012 that came with my 40 year old Thorens TD125.
Oppo BDP-95 Versus Bel Canto DAC 3.5
I had the LNS1 for a while. Then I got the CD2 so it made sense to buy the VBS1 which could power both the DAC and the CD2.I didn't think the improvements to the VBS1 and VB REF cables were day and night differences. It's quite subtle But then, I ...
Need info on amp rec. for these Thiel cs2.4's
I have had good partnerships between my Thiel CS2.4SEs and my Bel Canto REF1000Ms. If I had the choice, I would have preferred the REF500Ms. They use 3rd gen ICE modules and seem a little less lean than the REF1000Ms.
DAC Accustics Art - Ayon CD5S - AMR DAP 777
I have the Ayon CD5S, the Bel Canto DAC3.5VB MkII and the EMM Labs XDS1.In terms of resolution and dynamics, I rank the XDS1 > Bel Canto > AyonIn terms of ease of playing all my CDs including the not so well mastered ones, I rank Ayon > B...
Oppo BDP-95 Versus Bel Canto DAC 3.5
BTW I am using the DAC3.5VB with the VBS1 power supply and the VB REF cables and I found it still sounds better with good power, courtesy of a Sound Application RLS240 and ASI Liveline power cords.
Oppo BDP-95 Versus Bel Canto DAC 3.5
I've found the Sabre32 designs have a very close familial trait. They are a bit mellow, a bit less detailed in transients but easy to listen to.The Bel Canto has that bit better resolution and detail. The last mile, I guess. The MkII upgrade lower...
MacBook Pro to EMM XDS1
Only downsides to me are:a. it's not compatible with integer mode with Snow Leopard and Pure Musicb. there is no way to encode DSD audio via this interface which is a shame since the XDS1 uses a native DSD DAC>
Thiel scs 4
Only way to tell is to try a demo, I guess.I have heard a small push pull 18W DIY tube integrated driving the CS2.4s before and it sounded great with jazz vocals. But it wouldn't be my choice for more dynamic pieces or with large scale classical p...
Thiel scs 4
How about a tube preamp with the Krell?I am using an Audio Research which imparts a great lushness and midrange magic to the Thiels while still using my old SS amps
Oppo BDP-95 sounds GREAT?
The Ayre DX5 has a USB input which is an upgraded part of the QB9 USB DAC.
Oppo BDP-95 sounds GREAT?
I think there's a new flagship from Oppo coming that will include inputs to the DAC to make it an all-in-one media centre. A bit like the Ayre I guess
Macbook Pro As CD Source
This isn't strictly an Apples to Apples comparison but at a recent DAC shootout, I brought along my MBAir 13" 1.7GHz i5, 4GB of RAM, 128GB SSD while my friend brought along his MacMini Server (Quad Core i7 2GHz), 8GB of RAM and 120GB SSD.His is a ...
