New Oppo 103 & 105 Q&A Interview USB 2.0 has more than enough bandwidth to handle the 24/192 limit of the Sabre32 inputs. It would however be a "lost generation" product if it doesn't do DSD decoding over USB which IMHO is the way forward for hires downloads. Way more analog sound...
Best one-chasis CD/SACD player under $15 000? The Playback is > 15k now with the USB-X box and I think it sounds great. The XDS1 is a cleaner more neutral sound but the MPS5 is so close to it, it's a real bargain. I use the MPS5 in my second system while the XDS1 is in the main room.
If you had to choose: tube amp or tube pre-amp? I think it's hard to say which is better since system synergy comes into play. What I have found is that with difficult to drive speakers which need to eat up quality watts and lots of it, I find a SS power amp gives me enough juice to get the dyna...
Looking for hi value CD/SACD player... I have the SA8003 which I thought sounded overly warm for my taste. The SA KI Lite IMHO is a better machine and it's based off the 8004 but seems more dynamic.
Audio research REF 5 SE / REF 40th Ann compared ? That's cos ARC is about the release the Reference 10 :) which is a 2 box version like the Anniversary.
Dyanudio Xeo 3 Wow The 110A is based on the Focus series (one up from the Excite) so it's not surprising it sounds better.
Oppo-105 vs Oppo-93 + W4S DAC2 for stereo. I know it's not true that all DACs sound alike but SABRE32 designs sound awfully close.
Oppo-105 vs Oppo-93 + W4S DAC2 for stereo. The Oppo 93 supports only SPDIF and HDMI output but DSD is only sent out from the HDMI output. The W4S has an HDMI-looking port but it's for I2S signals and is not compatible. If you are using the Oppo to play back only CDs, the W4S+Oppo93 should so...
Dyanudio Xeo 3 Wow The Xeo5 is excellent. If you buy an Excite equivalent (on which the Xeos are based), you'd have a hard time finding a good quality amp to drive them for the difference in price btw the Xeos and the Excites IMHO
What's your favorite Apple-based music program? Glad we could help.ps also try disabling up sampling and running in Integer/Direct mode if supported by your device and see if you like it.I did find upsampling tended to make the bass less impactful
Playback Designs I have both the XDS1 and the MPS5. The MPS5 is definitely not lean, especially compared to the XDS1.The XDS1 did sound leaner at first but I've found that it does take a while to run in and it's very balanced now though without the mid bass emphas...
What's your favorite Apple-based music program? PCM is integer dataBut the OS normally processes data in floating point (FP).Integer mode allows the software to bypass the conversion to FP.Doing this also bypasses upsampling and volume control
Playback Designs MPS5 lean!??
Playback Designs I wonder if it is the effect of the tube you liked.I have an Ayon CD5S and the tube output is very very good but I find the MPS5 is just much more resolving. So I ended up using the MPS5 with a tube preamp.
What's your favorite Apple-based music program? Amarra does DSD??ps I think PM does full 2xDSD too |
