Any good FM tuners around for less than $200?
I can't say enough about my MD Etude and (2) Yamaha T-2s.There are plenty of Yamaha and Sansui tuners on that other site that go for no money. T-2s are a little pricy but T-85s are in your range. The black front Sansui tuners are classic and also i...
It was 20 years ago today. . What was your system?
A snapshot 20 years ago would look almost like 30 years ago. An early Apt/Holman preamp/Bryston3B(chrome handles-curley cord)powering a pair of Kef 103/3 w/Kube speakers.Linn LP12 / Ittok LVll/Argent Ruby and a Yamaha T-2 tuner.I wore the letterin...
KEF 107.2 with KUBE?
I am the original owner of a very early pair of 103/3s that have always been used with the Kube that came with it. The installation manual makes no mention of the speakers and the Kube being matched but the Kube is labeled on the rear for 103/3. I...
powering the Dahlquist DQ-10'
Not sure what the best amp for you would be but I can tell you that before you do anything, get in touch with the good people at Regnar Hi fidelity.(631 289-6559) They KNOW DQ-10s and are a full service operation. They rebuilt my woofers as good as...

When there were none to be had,and the wait was long,a pair of Harbeth P3ESRs in redwood, 28days old, better than 30% off list w/no tax and 15 miles from home showed uphere on the 'Gon. Three hours later they were on line and are flawless!!!
Amp for Harbeth P3ESR
SamDon't go straight to anything.Jumping in without first listening can be a costly mistake. Also, are you sure you like/understand what is refered to as "British Sound" gear? There is a ton of real quality stuff on A'gon all the timewith a lot in F...
Amp for Harbeth P3ESR
SamThere still in the box and you are already looking to tweek them? What did your dealer demo them with?Something steered you to these P3ESRs. Designer A.Shaw knows a little about how to build great speakers,he's been at it awhile! Don't try to f...
Amp for Harbeth P3ESR
SamHave to agree with Chashas1,the midrange is fine.Actually-IT'S OUTSTANDING! Also, for a speaker of its size the lower end aint bad either. Spend your funds on a quality amp and source. Something around 50/100 watts will work well. They are easy...
The Harbeth phenomenon
(disclaimer: I've never seen a Harbeth up close, only pictures)Since you did not say what you don't like about how they sound,I guess you have not heard them either.Specs alone mean little. Few,if any speakers do everything right for everybody. Wha...
Jeff Beck - Emotion & Commotion?
Picked up the CD the other day.Played it once-that was enough. After watching/listening to LIVE AT RONNIE SCOTTS'is this the best J.B.could come up with? Was at theBeck/Clapton show at MSG,he had the orchestra and it was boring.Played with Eric and...

Best Integrated w/ Phono-In under $350
DMW16Vintage gear from the 70/80's is the way to go.I've been a fan of Yamaha's"Natural Sound" line ,owning amps, tuners and tape decks over the years. There is a integrated listed now(NOT MINE-DON'T KNOW SELLER).Some have 2 phono inputs and the amp...
Single dedicated line query
Your electrician will tell you that the correct wire size is 12ga. with a 20 amp circuit breaker. It's not possible to expect to get 6 or 8ga. wire into a wall outlet box and then hook an outlet to it.What you "suspect" should be used is one thing,...
low profile tuners?
Yamaha Tuners from their "NATURAL SOUND" line also do well in tuner shootouts. Just sold a T-2 yesterday right here. There was a lot of interest. I also own a Magnum Dynalab Etude (3.5")&(nfs) and it sounds real good with a dead quiet background.
Harbeth HLP3ESR
NolitanI have not heard the P3ES2 but did jump all over a pair of P3ESR'S that were listed this past Thursday here on A'gon! (thanks Karl) I've been in front of them since.Ryder has got it right-no listening fatigue here. The Harbeth link above wil...
