Do Audiophiles blow speakers? I think the Krell puts out about 150 w/ch into 8 ohms, doubling into 4 - I don't think it should be underpowered really. I hoping to keep it for rear duty and have a similar kind of power amp / amps to drive them in the future - so I hope not!Your...
Do Audiophiles blow speakers? I was stone cold sober when I blew mine up CW.It makes me wish I was otherwise, especially when I get the bill, but 'twas not so.
Can a vintage piece over 40 years old be Highend Over here in the UK they ran a car programme about the performance of old cars - a certain amount of money to buy an old italian sportscar - £10,000 if I rememeber correctly - so a Lamborghini, Alfa, and Ferrari of dubious vintages were selected (...
Review: Wilson Audio X-2 Alexandria Speaker I have never seen these speakers in the flesh. I have seen the Wilson size comparison picture, but don't quite get the perspective - are there pictures of the alexandria on the web with someone stood next to them? I'm sure they make my sophias (I ...
The logistics of audio I just heard a bit more about thge Krell MRAs - they were destined for a guy in central London - who lives in a first floor flat!!They had to get a structural survey done before they could try to deliver them - and then they had tro use a crane to...

Do Audiophiles blow speakers? I've blown both the protective resistors on my Wilson's accidentally before xmas by getting off the sofa with a remote and a cd case in my hand, not noticing that my finger was being pressed against the volume up button. By the time I had realised...
Which speaker is the master of IMAGING ???? Acapella Violins - the only speakers I've heard where I believed I could touch the musicians. That said, the guy had also spent a fortune on some very special (possibly weird) room treatments - lumps of ebony on bird perchs - we did mess with them...
Review of Dartzeel NHB-108 Amplifier I did notice a brief reference to the Lamm 1.2 ref, which I would have thought may have made a closer comparison than the 2.1 set. Any thoughts about driving a Wilson Sophia?
Heard the $325000 Acapella's Sphaeron excaliburs? tbg - I'm not sure if one part was better than another - I have only heard this pair and would be difficult to compare. I do think that that a lot of headroom made the normal vinyl clicking and popping even more pronounced. The K-S cables did seem...
What about power cords to mate Krell 650MC amps? I tried a Virtual Dynamics Master powercord with each of my components in turn (including my Krell amp). The best improvement was with my processor, a slight improvement in the sounds of my CD player, and to my ears - abolutely no difference to my ...
Heard the $325000 Acapella's Sphaeron excaliburs? I have spent a couple of hours with the UK distributor of accapella today and a great guy he is too.I did not hear the speakers in question, but did hear again his Violins which are truly superb. We did a quick a/b demo with Virtual Dynamics vs Ku...

whats your idea of loud music. I tend to listen at about 75 when she's in and 90 when she's out. I occasionally push it louder for fun, but not very often. Bearing in miond this is all @ 1m and it's not a large room. I figure 110dB in a large room / hall would not be too loud. |
